wow! any idea how much that would set me back?

    thanks !

We paid about £20 a head for full English and a drink, which let's face it, is extortionate :rotfl:. However the view is fantastic, the food excellent and if you're not planning on going on the Eye or up the Shard, it means you get your panoramic view of London included in the cost.

    Hello Susan

Thank you so much for putting that amazing info together really is very good of you much appreciated!! girlfriend will have a ball now i know all whats on :)

few questions though how did you get the rooms so cheap? is there a discoun code or something ?

    Check in: 22 November | Check out: 25 November | Total: 3 Nights | 2 Adults

    Saver rate (Non-refundable) £67.00 £52.00 £59.00 £178.00

also with free Cermony Of the Keys Tower Of London tickets i am a little unsure on how you find out which dates are available? it says "chcek availability opposite" but there is no dates from what i can see to pick from ..

On a side note is there any romantic restaurants around that area which i could take her to for a evening meal on her 21st birthday nigh? She is a big Italian fan

    Thank you!!!!

It looks like the price has gone up already since I checked only yesterday. As they are red sale band rates they go up in price as people book them.

Casa Becci in Paddington street is a nice Italian about ten minutes walk from the Travelodge. It does get busy as it is a small restaurant, so best to book. The food is good but it is a cosy friendly family run place so maybe not what you are looking for, but the sort of place who would put a 21st helium balloon on a chair n decs on a table if you sneaked out and dropped them in in advance. You could prob arrange a candle in the pudding etc. There are lots of chain type Italian restaurants in the area too. if you google you can probably find the menu for Casa Becci to see if it is what you are looking for.

On arrival in London purchase two Oyster cards at the tube station £5 refundable deposit and top up as required at the machines in the tube station. You can hand them in at the tube station office for a deposit and any small amount refund or keep for any further trips to London. Use www.tfl.gov.uk to plan your journeys and plan what you want to do each day, print out google maps in advance, as there is such a lot to do and see and you want to make the most of your time. By the way I forgot to say there is a big Primark store at Marble Arch if you want to buy cheap matching Christmas jumpers which a lot of under 25s seemed to be doing and having photos taken in Winter Wonderland.

Lol, regarding the jumpers, the amount of matching jumper pictures taken in different parts of Winter Wonderland I saw on facebook last year, Primark must have been doing a roaring trade.

You are right that it is the same single fare for all zone1 tube journeys even if a longer journey (involving changing platforms to different tube lines). For example Leicester Square to Covent Garden takes under 30 seconds (quicker to walk it when you take into account getting to the platform) but still costs £2.20 with oyster for that single journey. Here are the fares: You can pick up a small pocket tube map by any of the ticket offices.
    http://www.tfl.gov.uk/cdn/static/cms/documents/tube-dlr-lo-adult-fares-jan-2014.pdf

For bus journeys it is £1.45 but it covers all London zones, so you could do a long journey on one bus, but unlike the tube (when you change tube trains instead of exiting the station) if you change buses you pay per bus ride (you tap oyster at the reader by the bus driver and don't need to tap out as you do when using the tube). Also costs only £1.45 for using the no 15 routemaster bus from Trafalgar square to the Tower (the conductor reads your oyster). If you only use buses all day the price cap is £4.40 on Oyster.

You might want to consider a west end show theatre visit as it can be an experience to remember (and a cheaper pre-theatre meal). A lot of shows do cheap day seats if you are at the box office before opening time. For example if you are you are both under 25, Matilda has 16 good day seat tickets for each performance at £5 for 16-25 year olds (proof of age required), £15 for War Horse tickets (any age) etc.

Matilda does not have a performance on Monday, so you will be looking for these tickets during the weekend, which are always more popular, Saturday would be the best day to try for as there are two performances so you double your chances of gettign the tickets i.e. 32 tickets. DD got some on a Wednesday in June, but was at the box office from 7.45am (she said it was a fab show). I found this information for you:
    http://asksgguy.wordpress.com/2013/06/15/how-do-i-get-discounted-tickets-to-matilda-the-musical-in-london/

If you don't fancy standing in a queue for a long time you could try the other shows that have a Monday performance as you get really discounted seats. We got front row £25 seats for Once the musical when arriving at the box office at 9.40am (but it had not long opened). if you like Mumford and Sons music, it is good. The band come onto the stage half hour before the performance to do a set and if you contact them in advance they would probably do a request for your girlfriends 21st. As the stage is a pub, you can buy drinks on the stage set. I have had £25 Wicked front row day seats before too, but queued on a weekday (not school hols) from 8am. Also keep an eye out for theatre offers as early May is a good time for these. Sometimes if you get cheap tickets you get a free upgrade (better chance again for the Monday). Blood Brothers is not on now but we went again for daughter's GCSE English lit and I booked the cheapest seats and found they had upgraded us to the best seats in the hosue on arrival.

great find on that website :)

Thank you for all your help going to get the accommodation booked today extending another day sat night - tues night . So might have a look at theatre on tues hoping it will be a bit cheaper. Looks as though it is worth hanging on for day of the show to get cheap tickets

"I have had £25 Wicked front row day seats" - that really is some luck and a half!

Wicked is a really fab show, both my daughter's say it is their favourite. They reserve the first two rows and only sell them on the day at the box office, now at £29.50. Tuesday si usually a quiet night at the theatre in my experience so you may get tickets then. I even read on Theatre Monkey that someone last April got to the box office at 1pm and got front row seats. Scroll down to past the ticket prices bit and you will see the more recent reviews for the first couple of rows.
