I am 47, single, out of work have a mortgage what benefits am I entitled to?
If you are single, have a mortgage on a house in Sandbanks, and out of work because mummy and daddy give you an allowance to live on, then probably no benefits.
But, if you are single, have a mortgage on a semi in Doncaster, and out of work through illness or redundancy, then you will possibly be entitled to benefits.
Details. We need details."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0 -

Put your details into the Turn2us online benefit calculator. You may find you are entitled to Job Seekers Allowance (about £72 a week) and a reduction in council tax. JSA, council tax discount and perhaps SMI (detailed below) are probably your only possibilities if you do not have dependents or disabilities.
For mortgage help, see the information on the Shelter website for owners at risk of arrears or repossession, such as negotiating with your lender or selling up, plus the Support for Mortgage Interest scheme.
The Direct Gov website also has information on SMI where the interest only part of the mortgage is paid to certain benefit claimants 13 weeks after applying, capped to the original mortgage sum (ignoring any subsequent remortgage), capped no greater than 200k, the interest rate is capped at less than 4% regardless of the rate of the mortgage and it is time-limited for those on JSA.
The government has signalled that in future they may make changes to restrict and lower the sums paid or might switch it to a loan only scheme, secured on the property, rather than a means tested benefit.0
