    Good question.

    Are you ill?

    Have you left your job?

There are different benefits for different scenarios.

So, if you have lost your job you may be entitled to contribution based JSA if you have been working and paying NI class 1 contributions for the last two tax years.

If you have savings under £16000 then you may be entitled to council tax support and after 13 weeks Support for Mortgage interest.

However if you have left your job voluntarily or been dismissed for gross misconduct then you are likely to be sanctioned and not receive JSA for a time.

Hope that may answer your question but if not you need to give more details.

It can make a big difference depending on the OP's answer.
