In your non medically trained opinion. Unless you know everything about the so called mildly disabled? I don't look disabled. But what you don't see is the pain, the communication difficulties, the social difficulties, etc.
There's no need to be so judgemental
I can assure you I do appreciate what an outsider might see/comprehend doesn't tell anything like the real story.0 -
I agree almost-free the forms are extremely repetitive and have changed since I last completed one and it may well be that I myself didn't clarify just how much time it takes to assist her, I did complete the form alone but I certainly won't make that mistake again. My MP has today emailed her letter of support along with the letter from my daughters orthopaedic consultant and apparently she is also including some minister in the email so his office will brief him, here's hoping that will go someway to helping, and just to top things off I now have a fight on my hands with my daughters school, the class teacher has had a hissy fit as I asked the teaching assistant to write a letter describing how she is at school apparently I should have asked the teacher to do it, ha! I have also just found out they have removed the disabled toilet so my daughter is forces to use the normal toilets (which are apparently filthy) until a new disabled toilet is fitted in about a month so I will be going into school Monday and they now have an issue as I have asked she uses her wheelchair at school as she has been struggling with pain and tiredness, it really does feel like an uphill never ending battle at the minute. This teacher has picked the wrong mum to annoy at the minute though.0

Whos caths her at school?
Id be very surprised if the school staff helped her, they wont normally assist with things like this because they claim they can not give medical help and they call anything out of the ordinary medical help.
Dirty toilets? It something you have to deal with because its part of life, you can get caths that come with gloves and the bag they come in adheres to the sink/wall to collect the rubbish to cath as cleanly as possible.0 -
the same as at home she does her own catheter at school but with her teaching assistant there to support her, at the moment the agreement is that if for any reason she does struggle and is unable to do it then I will go in to do it for her, so far I have only been called in 4 times since xmas so not bad going, the assistant however is happy to be trained and the urology nurses here have been into plenty of schools and trained staff to catheterise children. As for the toilets a normal child sized cubicle isn't exactly appropriate when she also needs to do her colostomy and it may sound petty but it doesn't exactly smell pleasent and the last thing I want is kids being nasty about it and we all know how cruel kids can be, as far as I am concerned the disabled toilet should not have been removed without adequate alternatives and certainly not without informing us and maybe discussing options, I could understand it if the toilet was not used but it is every 2 hours.0

well today things are looking up, I have confirmed that the DLA have received all the supporting docs that were faxed to them and with my MP badgering them (she has been bugging the complaints manager) the complaints manager has agreed our reconsideration needs looking at urgently and has said a decision will be made hopefully tomorrow but maybe Wednesday, with that info motability have agreed not to collect our car tomorrow as arranged but have delayed it by a week and obviously if we get the original claim reinstated they will stop the collection completely. For the first time since this fiasco started I am feeling confident
. Thank you to everyone who has given advice (there was things I hadn't even thought of) and of course I shall update with the decision as soon as I know.

Thanks NYM I tell you after the past couple of weeks I was long overdue some good news.0

well it is just a case of keeping everything crossed now that the decision is favourable, I can't afford to lose the car now seeing as we bought a used car privately last week and turns out we were screwed over
oh well lesson learnt there lol

well I have just had a call from my MP's caseworker the DLA complaints manager has just phoned her and my daughters original award has been reinstated so she is back on higher rate mobility and higher rate care. Thank you again to everyone who gave advice or kind words of support and I would highly recommend anyone who finds themself in a similar position to ask your MP for the it help as I think that is the only reason the reconsideration was done so fast because my MP bugged and bugged them.0
