Hope you have a better day today x

    Hi Everyone

    Thanks for popping in :)

I had a good night sleep and thought I felt a bit better this morning but after lunch I suddenly started to feel dizzy and my head was thumping. I cried in front of the head and got sent home :(

It's so embarrassing and I always get teary if I start feeling ill like that at work, so I feel a bit silly :o I've got a lesson observation tomorrow so I'm determined to be in as I don't want to plan it all again.

In other news - flights booked for our honeymoon! They were a bit more expensive than when we first looked but OH suggested we go a day later as the Tuesday flight is cheaper, and we have only paid for one suitcase and plan to take carry on luggage too. I felt very proud of him for this suggestion as saving money does not come naturally to him :T

It also means we will be away for 6 nights instead of 7 so the hotel will be cheaper :money: Also we have an extra day between the wedding and the flight which should make things more relaxed :)

Just need to choose a hotel now but I'm struggling to narrow it down...

I think I'm going to do a bit more browsing on here then have a lurcher cuddle and a snooze :o

Today was horrible at work :(

Felt very weepy in the morning and had to have a sugary cup of tea to stop it. Observed lesson was not the best due to a variety of factors and i'm worried I might have to do it again. Children were also pretty awful and I've got such a long list to do.

I feel completely drained of all energy. You could knock me down with a feather at the moment. My cold is still no better.

I don't want to come and moan on here again - oops :o

End of month budget sorted and final £20 moved to savings :)

In January we saved about 40% of our income (I say about as some of the money saved came from cashback and interest but I haven't bothered to add it to our total income)

    Emergency fund is at 94%

    Renovation pot at 31%

So, all in all a successful month :)

Just need to get tomorrow out of the way...

I'm feeling a bit better today and think I have won myself a few brownie points from the 'people in charge' for staying in work despite being tired, ill and looking 'pale as death' as one colleague put it  I new I should have used some bronzer this morning! :rotfl:

One lady who works in my class gave me a big hug and a bar of chocolate this morning after my tearful outburst yesterday! It's a bit embarrassing really :o

OH is out tonight so I've done the money shuffle :j:T:j

    £702 to renovation pot = 36%

    £219.15 to emergency fund = 100% :j

This is a bit less than last month as we're expecting a higher than usual credit card bill for the xmas weeks and just generally have a few more things to pay for.

I've done so much overtime this month though that next pay day should be good :)

Currently drinking a glass of red, eating chocolate and watching carp TV - it's the weekend :D

Ah, what an idiot! Made a silly error with the savings (before any wine was consumed!) and should have moved £907 to renovation not £702 :o

So renovation pot is now at 37%

At least the mistake was that way around, I would be miffed to have to take money out

I am so dumb! Overpaid the emergency fund by £100 so have moved it across to the renovation pot which is now at 38%.

This is definitely a lesson in not doing anything spreadsheet related on a Friday evening when you're tired!

My lovely OH came home last night and told me he's been given a payrise :j:j It will mean about £100 a month for us and I'm so proud that his hard work has been recognised :T:T. I know pay rises are very rare at the moment, especially in a small private company.

In September we set ourselves the challenge of saving £7000 towards our renovation pot by the time we get married in May. Unless something unexpected happens, we should complete this challenge on our next payday which is two months early

The next two months savings will probably go towards our wedding and honeymoon as lots of things have cropped up which we didn't budget for...like the honeymoon itself :o

The weather is pretty wild outside but I slept really well. I'm feeling a bit better again this morning and am looking forward to a relaxing weekend :)

Congratulations on OH's pay rise - you are right - they seem to be rare as hen's teeth at the moment :)

I'm sorry your work is feeling so torrid, can you think of any changes that will reduce the workload, or is it just the 'new normal' in a profession where greater demands are being placed on staff?

I like how you're capturing your savings rate, very MSE. Don't beat yourself up for spreadsheet mistakes, I forgot about £1500 last year! :o :rotfl:

    Hi Ed

I don't mind realising I've got more money than I thought I had, it's when it goes the other way that I get annoyed :o

Work is just work :( We're into the 'expecting Ofsted' cycle now so the pressure is massively on and it's really tough seeing other people struggling as well as yourself. You could say that staff health and wellbeing is so unimportant it's not even on the agenda.

Yesterday we picked up my wedding ring and I love it :j Is it wrong that I want to wear it now? :o:D

    Right, a busy day ahead:
    • walk dogs
    • print wedding invitations
    • start addressing envelopes
    • Ring family about wedding stuff
    • make cake
    • do other things that I can't think of at the moment...
