broken wardrobe

  • Personally I would cancel the call out and save myself £45 and use that towards paying someone to put it back together for me. Flat pack wardrobes - in fact wardrobes in general - dreadful things to have to move.
I have always left behind when moving house. And the reason we have not decorated our bedroom for over 10 years is that I simply cannot face having to move our bank of wardrobes (left behind by previous occupants) to do it !
  • Very few "flat pack" wardrobes sit on the floor on the very bottom of the unit. They normally have 4 small feet or more commonly, they will have a plinth running around the bottom.
About the only way to move assembled units safely would be to totally lift it off the floor as attempting to slide it causes the legs or plinth on the side you are pulling from to collapse, causing the wardrobe to topple over.

Even if they appear to be solid, they are generally only held together with a few dowels or some quick fastening clips and as stated by visidigi, large and heavy flat packed furniture isn't really designed to be move once assembled.
