The pregnant daughter is irrelevant, at six months she shouldn't have been messing with heavy furniture anyway. The delivery problems are also irrelevant.
Stick to the facts. Does the instruction book give any details on how to move the wardrobe once built? If it does, and you haven't done it correctly and instead placed too much stress on the wrong place then it's entirely your fault. To be honest I wouldn't even think to call the manufacturer/seller if I had been lugging the furniture around and it broke. Gone are the days are solid wood, lifetime furniture; most is now lifestyle choice use for a few years and change.

So what is your query?
If it isn't an inherent fault, then as stated by you, you will be charged a call out fee.
Did it come assembled, or did you have to assemble it?
Surely the wardrobe was delivered to yourself, as you have it up and has been in situ for 6 months; the last sentence makes no sense.0 -

No it was flat packet and I had a handyman put it up and unfortunately we dont all have partners to move furniture about and needed to put my daughters breathing equipment nearer the bed and closer to the babys cot.I only asked for a polite reply not an analysis on my personal life0

It is possible the handyman built it incorrectly, he may have thought he knew what he was doing so not read the assembly instructions.
You haven't answered the question about whether the instructions say anything about how it should be moved?0 -
You haven't actually "asked" for anything yet!No it was flat packet and I had a handyman put it up and unfortunately we dont all have partners to move furniture about and needed to put my daughters breathing equipment nearer the bed and closer to the babys cot.I only asked for a polite reply not an analysis on my personal life0 -

I only asked for a polite reply not an analysis on my personal life
I am NOT being rude when I say this BUT
the only reason you are getting a personal analysis of your life is you keep adding in detail that's not pertinent or relevant to the situation.
I can only assume you are asking what rights you have, and given a third party built it, it will probably come down to them as cause instead of the product.
Flat pack by default is never meant to be moved once built. I would actually say you run a very real risk of being charged the fee.
Again, stick to fact, not detail. Avoids you feeling like you're being picked on...0 -
Flat pack by default is never meant to be moved once built.
I was told this by a furniture supplier some 25 years ago, when a similar thing happened to me - wardrobes started to collapse when moved. I just re-assembled them.If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0 -
Wardrobes are tall and heavy, they normally sit in carpeted bedrooms, when you push against them to move them the carpet causes great friction and will stop the wardrobe moving, you push harder and boom the bottom falls apart.
You better be careful because if this is the scenario, (most likely as you said it broke whilst moving it) then they will know and charge for the call out.0
