As a dog owner myself I'd go as far to say that I would wish they do this to all open public areas.Yet again, irresponsible dog owners ruining it for the responsible ones
Not entirely the case in my view. As much as you'd like to think little Fido is "part of the family", Dogs are animals and with so many kids around these public areas and other dogs also I think it would be better all round if they were all kept on leads. I've seen the most timid, placid dog "who wouldn't harm a fly" snap at a child who spooked it........ it'll always be the dogs fault so they shouldn't ever be put in the position that they can be "Blamed" for anything in my view...0 -

As a non dog owner I would love them to do it all public places too. Am tired of going for a walk in the park and having dogs come sniffing around me or jumping up on me and the owner telling me they are just being a friendly.
I was walking along a promenade once after work and was wearing my good clothes and some dog ran up and jumped at me - the inconsiderate owner didn't even call the dog back, she jsut shouted oh don't worry "fido" won' hurt you - my response was he has already dirtied my good dry clean only suit - can you please give me £10 to pay for the dry cleaning
Her answer was f*** off. you are a stupid b**** for wearing that somewhere dogs might be, why the f*** should i pay blah blah blahWeight loss challenge, lose 15lb in 6 weeks before Christmas.0 -
She's sounds an absolute delight! I'd be mortified if my dog muddied someone's clothing and more than likey would cough up the cash!0

I welcome the news too, if I had a pound for every time a dog owner has said 'It's okay he/she won't hurt you' as their dog is sniffing around my children......I'd be rich.
I'm not anti dog, just anti irresponsible owners. Don't get me started on owners who don't pick up their dogs mess!!0 -
I' m glad to hear it too, and I wish they'd bring in that rule elsewhere. I'm a dog owner and I always keep my dogs on leads when they're out for walks. If I want to let them have a bit of freedom, I let them run about on one of those long extendable leads. I hate it when other dogs are running about loose, because I'm worried that a bigger dog might attack my dogs.0

I'll admit I'm one of those owners who will say he won't hurt you, but that's me being honest. He won't. HOWEVER my dog is never off the lead when we are out in public areas where children are about.
I own a German Shepherd, so he looks a lot scarier that is really is. But my issue is with those dog owners who let the dos run off the lead and they come up to my dog and pick a fight. My dog's that much of a coward he'll turn the other way, but the other dogs don't know that, so they'll keep at him.
I'm the one who gets the abuse and dirty looks when my dog does bark back, my argument is he's on the lad, yours isn't. One of these days I'd be tempted to let him off the lead just to see the other owners faces, just as shame my dog (bug as he is) would still run the other bloomin way!Pay all debt off by Christmas 2025 £341.40/£3,000£1 a day challenge 2025 - £90/£730 Declutter a bag a week in 2025 9/52Lose 25lb - 10/25lbs Read 1 book per week - 3/52Pay off credit card debt 10%/100%0
