Virgin Media: dreadful, avoid

OK, so I signed up with this shower on 3 April for a sim-only deal. I did so by telephone, and lost at least an hour of my life kept on hold before doing the deal (the only good part of the experience was that I was served by a charming Filipina with a delightful voice: tempted me to buy an air ticket instead).

Anyway, the SIM has still not arrived. I have, however, received all the paperwork relating to my direct debit, including confirmation that I will be paying the monthly contract payment from 3 April.

Obviously I have emailed them (two days ago), and have had an auto-acknowledgement. but no human being has actually read my message, far less done anything about it.

Presumably I can cancel the direct debit, but do I have any other rights in this situation? And how can I enforce them with an organisation that does not communicate?

Don't cancel the direct debit without cancelling the contract or your problems will make this issue pale into insignifance.

Get it in writing to them without delay.

Virgin are a pain mobile wise.

When my contract was up in December and I would have considered switching to them, they point blank refused me the handset I asked for because I didn't pass the 'credit check' however they tried very hard to push another handset on me for the same price, same allowances, same contract. I'm guessing they had some sort of sales quota for the handset they were pushing.

At that point I started to be glad I hadn't signed for a contract with them!

I have other services, but the wait to talk to anyone about Mobiles is unbearable.
  • I have also had a dreadful experience with virgin media today, in that a tenant has left a property, without paying rent, and leaving debt owed to virgin, when i tried to give virgin media the details of their new address they told me they wont help me as im not a customer, on explaining the situation again and asking to speak to a manager, they told me"no im not putting you through to your manager as your esculation is completely unjustified" lol, cant believe anyone can speak like that on the phone... and you cant complain any other way than the telephone according to their website. terrible terrible company!

I don't blame Virgin on this one, perhaps they could have been politer, no business should take address change information over the phone from an unknown and unverifiable third party.

There is plenty of good advice on this site about how to stop any letters which are bothering you. Or if you feel your credit history has been contaminated.
