Galaxy Note 2 vs Note 3

I am in the fortunate position of being able to pay for my new phone outright and get the best SIM only deal. I am torn between the Note 2 and Note 3.
Is it worth the extra outlay to get the Note 3? I have read reviewers that say there are too many applications that are simply not used.
I want to use the phone for my daily diary (using S pen), using the internet on the move, using it as a tablet to download and read books when I need to. Also playing games, storing contacts and records etc. As I have a fairly old phone at present I am sure there is much more that I can use the phone for, both for my business and in my personal life.
Any ideas from people who own or have owned one or both of these?
