how do dual sims work?

I was thinking about getting a dual sim adaptor, o2 and vodafone. but wasnt sure how it would work?

i was only going to get the vodafone sim to internet usage on my mobile. do you think that would work?

I was trying to research this a while back, I assume you want to be able to take your calls on your two numbers with the same handset?

I wanted to do the same but could not find a way to do it. You can have either one SIM or the other, but not both simultaneously. the dual SIM just allows you to store the two SIMs in the same place. If the above was possible, it would have really saved me a ton of trouble, carrying two phones around etc.

This may have changed, there may be applications that can work with an electronic SIM holder, but I'd assume that would be very phone specific - I may be wrong.
