Price Increase after paying online

Hi, Just after a bit of advice please. I purchased a pair of prescription lenses online, inputted my prescription carefully etc and was quoted a price of around £35. Had an e-mail confirming my order (subject title is "Order Confirmation").
Roll forward a week (after having an e-mail saying my frames had moved from the warehouse to the lab for lens fitting) and I've had an e-mail from them saying that as my lenses are complex (ie high prescription) I have to pay an extra £20.00!
Obviously I can ask for a full refund, but are they able to ask for this extra money - their system allowed me to input my prescription in good faith and I thought that the order confirmation meant our contract had begun?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Check their terms, should state when the contract is formed.
If it's formed and all details was entered when ordering then no they can't. But if they play hard ball not much you can do then0 -
What do the T&C's say about what constitutes acceptance of your order/when a contract is formed?You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0

They are within their rights to ask for more or refund you.0

As the two posts prior to yours (but same time) infer ... it depends.0 -
Thanks all for the prompt replies. Their T&Cs state;
"No binding contract will exist between us until we have accepted your order and confirmed the availability of the product by a return reply via email."
Which I got via the order confirmation and the fact that they said the item was on in stock and on its way to being processed. They have e-mailed me back and said although you can enter a 'complex' prescription on their website and pay their system can't actually price it properly so it waits till it goes to the lab!
So, I think I will just request a refund and go with another company I have used before and who were only a few pounds pricier this time round. I don't think I will get anywhere arguing the toss somehow.
Thanks again!0 -
Just reread their T&Cs which actually state;
4. Price
1. The price for the goods will be the price stated on our website.
Not sure how asking for more money after paying fits with this!!!0 -
As you say yourself, you are right and they are wrong. But is it worth the effort and grief trying to make them abide by the agreed price?0

You're right bod1467!
I've e-mailed them back pointing out their own T&Cs and asked them either to abide by them or to refund me the £35ish I have paid (via Paypal).
We'll see - I anticipate a refund!0 -
First read their terms and conditions carefully, as sometimes they charge for extra lenses. Once I had also placed an order online in which i had been asked to pay extra for lenses.0
