Hi pratically-minded forumites,
In my house there are glass panels above the doors, measuring the width of the door (a standard, modern door) by about 30 cm high.
One of these has cracked.
Please could someone give me a really me a really ballpark figure to replace this, parts and labour.
It is in London.
Thank you.

£60 elsewhere - £260 in London
And that's if you can find anyone to do it...
Good luck

Hi Russ, thanks. Yes, quite true - I tend to wait and bundle non-essential jobs like this together.
So would the London premium (and this is zone 2) make it nearer to £100? Apologies, if you have no idea. Thanks for the 'normal world' quote!0 -
Too hard to say unfortunately, I just know that's the sort of price I'd charge up here.
Have you approached any glaziers??Perfection takes time: don't expect miracles in a day0 -
Seems expensive! I got a double glazed window pane replaced for £60!!0

Correct ABBNAFC - the pane will be set in putty and probaby have timber beading which needs to be removed and re-set without breaking it.
DG units are replaced in 5 minutes as they have removable snap in beadings.

Its called a fanlight I think.
Try measuring it and calling a glass place for a price for the glass first. My guess single pane of glass about £20 to £30. Add more if you wanted laminated or obscured.
Then you can Google to see how long it should take my guess about an hour maybe hour and half then you can see what price you should be charged. Add on London pricing and you get a ballpark.63 mortgage payments to go.
Zero wins 2016 😥0 -
make a cardboard template and take it along to a glass shop!0

You just need a handyman to do that. No idea of cost, but shouldn't take him more than a couple of hours including going to get glass.
Are you sure you want it reglazed? I've just had all the panes above my doors covered with plasterboard & know quite a few people get this done to stop light shining into bedrooms when trying to sleep. The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0 -
Fanlights missprice are small opening/fixed sashes that are above a larger sash in a window. On an internal door lining the glazed area above the door is called a "Borrowed light" because when your standing on the landing/passage way the light is "borrowed" from the room.0
