I am not sure if you originally posted for sympathy or advice.
Looks like the Arms is firmly plumping for the advice option.
So I will add mine to the mix!
Whether you opt for low fat or low carb there are some types of food you have been mentioning which are high in both and probably should be avoided in any weight loss plan. Namely
Crisps
Pizza
Puff pastry
Now an odd treat might be OK, but if it was me I would really prefer not to buy those things at all during the time I am trying to lose weight.
Can your physio advise you as to any form of exercise you can do? If it is your legs that are causing you pain can you do some exercises seated with your arms to get your heart rate up?
Is your partner wanting to lose weight too? It can be a challenge otherwise. Still I find that I can buy biscuits or make cakes that my partner likes but I don't to minimize temptation (he loves bannoffee pie with I am happy to make but hate!). I also can cook him "normal meals" and miss bits out eg potatoes in my portion.
One other trap that I used to fall into was calorific drinks, a couple of glasses of wine with my beautifully portion controlled , high veg and high protein meal was not constructive!
Sorry I am with Quasar on carbs! And would also question whether or not you really know how little 100g of carbs is? Less than the quoted 2 slices of bread.
Good luck anyway0 -

The thing with this diet is it was supposed to be not cutting things out but being sensible, I've never stuck to cutting things out and it's not feasible that I will never have pizza or crisps ever again, so pizza is once a week max
My partner is not wanting to lose weight, he wants to gain
My physio has given me some physiotherapy to do, the pain is all over, literally all over, the ache you get when getting cold/flu, I have that constantly as well as shooting and stabbing pains
Calorific drinks are rare, I rarely drink alcohol (I'm talking once or twice a year) I mainly drink tea (green/herbal) water or no sugar energy drinks0 -
If you get a chance watch it, it was surprising
The low fat twin not only performed better physically but mentally, he was more alert and although he could eat more than the ow fat twin he still lost weight
The low carb twin lost the most weight but it was mostly muscle and he was very close to becoming diabetic
I don't want you to think I'm throwing your advice back in your face because I'm not, I appreciate it it's just I will never be a low carb person
And so the advice is essentially to avoid heavily processed foods (such as pies, pastries, sweets, white bread and pasta etc etc). If you can do this then you'll gradually wean yourself off your addiction and you'll find it much easier to lose weight, and will feel healthier too.0 -
Yeah I started just changing little things, drinking more water, switching to no sugar energy drinks, smaller bags of crisps etc
!When I eat pizza (frozen one) I will eat the whole thing, maybe me and the OH should have half each with salad
I am dropping my portions IE two slices if bread instead if 4 or 2-3 quorn sausages instead of 5-6 etc
Absolutely priceless!:rotfl:
You honestly couldn't make this stuff up! How can anyone hope to lose weight shovelling that lot down and doing no exercise? The only way to lose weight is to eat less. I'd have thought the penny would have dropped after all this time.
The first step is educating yourself in what is sensible eating. You can't succeed on a basis of 'I don't like this, I only like that.' It's not that complicated, but without willpower it is impossible.0 -
I have lost 1st and am struggling to lose the last stone. I have a physical job, so thought I would lose the last stone easily but my appetite went through the roof!
I would limit the pastry to once a week max and also the pizza. Energy drinks are not good for you, but it sounds like you care more about weight loss than health?
I am aiming to cut down on eating Pizza and drinking wine..i'll be miserable but thinner0 -

My dad said the same about the appetite
Yeah pizza is once a week and the pastry thing will be less really
If I want the health benefits I can always go back on 5:20 -

But you said you are still unhappy at being fat. All I am saying is that if you are serious then whole pizzas and piles of sausages are unlikely to help you succeed. This has been going on for years on here and nothing changes. If you can't exercise you need to lower calorie intake, but you already know that. There is no easy shortcut. You reduce intake or stay overweight, simple as that.0
