We have just got 3 phones on the £7.50 Tesco mobile tariff (thanks Ovivo!)Two of the phones say Tesco at the bottom of one of the screens the other says o2 - UK. Any Tesco mobile customers know what the difference is please.

Tesco Mobile is a MVNO running on o2. Possibly two phones are locked to TM and the other is unlocked, since they sell both?
I'm not clear from your post if you've bought 3 new handsets from Tesco, or just bought 3 TM SIM's for your existing handsets?
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

Absolutely none from a working point of view. As macman says, O2 is the network behind Tesco Mobile.

My unlocked Galaxy S3 says Tesco.

The difference in logo is due to different firmware versions of the handsets (the 'O2' one probably has the older firmware).

Hi can someone put my mind at rest please, do Tesco still unlock their phones.
Mine is just coming up on 12 month's old Doro 611 ( no laughing please ) locked to Tesco.
please see recent reply from Tesco Direct Customer Services.

I apologise for the poor phone reception you receive in your home, I understand this must be quite frustrating as I have also had reception problems in the past with my mobile phone.

If you have purchased the mobile recently you can receive a full refund as long as you have had the mobile no longer than 14 days. Tesco itself don’t unlock phones I’m afraid and I apologise for any inconvenience this may cause you.

However, there are places that specialise in unlocking phones in most Cities and Towns. If you don’t know of a shop in your City/Town that does this please get back to me with the details of what city or town you stay in and I would be more than happy to track down a local phone unlocking shop for you.

I hope my information was helpful to you and if you have any other queries don’t hesitate to contact me.

Tesco do unlock phones as I've just had two unlocked. The reason may be because you are on Pay as you go.

However my understanding is that they must unlock it as it's your property however they will charge a fee for it. It would probably be cheaper to buy a new phone

Para 10.1 of the PAYG T&Cs says they will unlock it after 12 months from the date it was first used http://www.tescomobile.com/about-us/terms-and-conditions/pay-as-you-go/pay-as-you-go-service-terms-conditions

My previous phone locked to Tesco was a Nokia 2720 and they were unable to provide a code, so sent me a pre-paid Special Delivery envelope to return it from them to do. Plus they sent it back using Special Delivery as well - very good service in my opinion. I rang their customer services line and it was all sorted by them.

You need to contact Tesco Mobile and not Tesco Direct.

The latter as attached to the stores and will have no more knowledge about mobiles than toasters.

Alternatively, cheapest unlock on ebay is £8.99 (or best offer) - may be cheaper than Tesco.

    Update From Tesco
    Thank you for your email.

Unfortunately my colleague has given you incorrect information. Tesco Mobile do unlock mobile phones issued by the Tesco Network. Please use the below contact details for further help.

The Tesco Mobile Helpline number is 0845 301 4455 or 4455 from your mobile phone and the lines are open Monday to Friday from 8am-9pm, Saturday from 8am-8pm and Sunday from 10am-6pm.

Alternatively, if you would prefer to correspond via email, you can send Tesco Mobile a message using the link I have provided below.

    http://phone-shop.tesco.com/tesco-mobile/mobile-extended.aspx

Thank you taking the time to ask me about this and I hope this information helps.

    Kind regards
