Yes, I was tired - we went to bed at 10.30pm and went off to sleep almost immediately. I woke at 7am, thought I'd just doze for a little bit, and the next thing I knew it was 8.45am. We both slept until this time, so we obviously needed the rest.

We've been out and about this morning. We took our old 1970's music centre to the recycling centre. It's not in working order. I tried to sell it for spares or repair on eBay but had no takers. At least it's out of the house now - one more item has been de-cluttered.

We then went on to M&S. It's a 20% off weekend for cardholders and I had a £10 voucher that needed to be used by 16th November. We bought our Christmas presents to each other. A dressing gown each. We currently don't have dressing gowns, but thought we need them for our new life. As we are away for Christmas, we won't wrap them up, so they will start to be used when we come home from our holiday. I also bought a hat to keep my ears warm. Total cost £72.50, with 20% off and voucher, total spent £48.00, so I thought that this was a good saving.

We then went to the food section. We had a voucher for £5 off a £25 shop. So I bought some of the things that I like to buy in M&S, plus Mr Goldie needs to take cakes to work on Monday for his birthday. Oh, and we bought some sweets as well, in case we have trick or treaters.

Total cost, including the money off - just over £26.

Note to self - next year, STOP BUYING FOOD IN M&S !!!!

eBay is fairly dire this week.

I've got 11 things from my friend listed - it looks like 2 will sell.

I was hoping for a free listing weekend this week, but no such luck. Next free listing weekend I'm just going to go ahead and start all the auctions I have ready, as I really need to get these things out of the house. I have a spare room looking like a stock room at present. Also, the local Post Office is closing for refurbishment for 10 days in mid November, so I'd like to get a lot of stuff posted by then.

I have 5 items left from my October 20 free listings. I've started two more auctions, and the other three I'm saving for an experiment later in the week.

These are things I need to learn! M&S, I have those slippers that were a gift a size too small, and they're last years model, so they won't even give me acredit note, fair enough - but the nice M&S lady advised me to take them to Oxfam and get the £5 voucher. Its £5 off a £35 spend, apparently, and with Christmas coming up, even I can do that. But I don't think I'd be buying food there!!!

And that book I listed on ebay has 2 watchers! Its the same price as someone else, but its obvious that I'm a real person not a robot, because of what I put in the description :):):)

Hope the weekend is a good'un.

You're still going great guns with Eb@ying Goldie, I admire your dedication!

A 10 day closure for a refurb sounds like a long time, if any of the POs around here shut for that long, they'd be closed down permanently by RM ... there are now no sub POs in the area and the main one has been closed down and a PO counter opened up in WHS instead. Not that I'm complaining, it means you can take drop of parcels on Sunday if needed.

I was thinking of you with the clock change ... it's where autumn starts properly and your countdown really gathers pace, by the time the clocks change again you'll be well into your new life and feeding back all the news about what it's like on the Young, Retired and Free side of the fence!

I totally understand the grumps, I'm sure I'd be the same, but it won't be long now.

Funnily enough I was eyeing up M&S dressing gowns the other day, with a £10 voucher (I got a pair of their £10 pjs instead as part of a frugal Xmas pressies for DSD1). I shall drop heavy dressing gown hints in Mr Hbbb's direction instead, for when the time comes!

Hope Mr. Goldie's cold has cleared and at he has a good birthday. Big plans or quiet time for two on the day? x

New dressing gowns sound good, my current one is very comfy, but is now 8+ years old!

If you're considering the S123 account, I have to say that it is very good and can be run with next to no hassle. I was wary of opening ours as we had our first mortgage with the Spanish bank, but the S123 doesn't seem to come with the normal faff I've come to expect from them ;)

Hi everyone, thanks for dropping by :)

KC, when I bought books from eBay, I'd always try and buy from a real person. The one time I didn't and bought from one of those mega-listers, I was sent a disgusting, smelly mouldy book that went straight in the bin.

Hbbb, I was talking to the assistants in the Post Office, and they say they'll only believe they are getting the refurb when they open up after it is all done. They are half convinced they'll never open again! It's very handy that parcels can be dropped off on a Sunday, although eBay customers will expect their Sunday orders to be delivered on the Monday! :rotfl:

Once the clocks change, there's certainly a different atmosphere. For me, there really is an 'end of days' feel. At my last job, our office closed on 13th November, 5 years ago. Most people took their redundancy at that point, although I stayed on for a few more weeks as there was a project I was finishing off. I had an office / broom cupboard in a local branch office, and left on 11th December. So, it's a very similar feeling now, counting down those last days.

Ed, the 123 looks as if it'll be very good for our bill paying account. We already have a savings account with them, so it should be quite an easy matter to open the account. I've heard some  stories about their admin, but we've never had any trouble with them. With the cash back and the interest, it should be a nice little earner.

We'll probably open a TSB account this week and do Santander next week - I don't want to credit scoring system to blow a fuse!

Not much going on here today. Had a good walk this morning, roast chicken for lunch, a spot of ironing and that's about it.

As both the eBay buyers have paid, I transferred my share of the proceeds (£5) to the LXF

    Have a good Sunday evening

    He's fine now, thank you

It's just a normal day at work for Mr Goldie. He's ok with it..... he knows he's going to have some time off soon!:rotfl:

Aw, sounds a nice quiet day. Glad your buyers have paid, I hate it when they take ages, and its good to hear you *chose* the real people :) I put another one up there, for some reason, its sort of easy when its a book, isn't it ... a Dummies book, as fresh as the day it arrived in the house :o so I should get a good price for it.

There's definitely a feeling of 'end of days' - its not 5pm yet, and its dark!!! Sort of, anyway :rotfl:

I really hope your PO *does* open again, I confess I'm spoiled for choice - I've got a local one 10 mins walk away in one direction, and the main one for the town 10 mins in the other direction :o and even though the main one is ina Coop shop, its had huge investment in scales and automatic payments...

Good luck with the bank accounts.

I had always believed that if you make two consecutive applications (i.e. the same day), it wouldn't matter as there's no way the credit checking systems could be updated that quickly. Am I labouring under a misapprehension?

Ps. Also got a T5B acccount (as does Mrs E), also good.

Ed, I think you are right - as I've not needed to borrow money for some years, I don't pay much attention to credit score matters.

In that case, we'll do both applications on the same day:). Also, it gets things moving that much more quickly.
