A bit more progress has been made.
I moved some things around in my kitchen, so all my 'ingredients' are logically stored and enjoy easy access.
There's still work to be done in the kitchen as I need to go through the rest of the cupboards and drawers and see if any utensils/mugs/plates etc etc need to be decluttered. I suspect there'll be only a few items that can go, as I've been fairly ruthless in the past with kitchen things that were never used.
But that can wait for a while, as I feel in the mood to make a start on my wardrobe this week. I mentioned on Tilly's thread, this will be quite time consuming, as I want to try some things on to see if they still fit, and I will be eBaying things, as there's some nice stuff that will probably have to go.
On the subject of eBay, so far there's 10 sales for the weekend, and six are ready to be posted. They are all my friends things. We go 50/50 on the proceeds, but I take the fees out of my half. Which leaves surprisingly little at the end of it all.
As with most additional money making schemes the effort exerted doesn't match the money raised.
When I've got further down the decluttering path, I WILL be having a bash at matched betting. It seems the only way to make decent money, to match the effort put in
We had South Seas curry for lunch, so called because it contains coconut milk. It was nice, but we used some cubed turkey breast that we had. Next time we'll use chicken, I think chicken will suit this dish more.Early retired - 18th December 2014

Matched betting has always interested me, I'd love to give it a try but have never had a chance to look into it properly. Hope it goes well for you!0

I think your friend is getting a very good deal, Goldie. Maybe you could suggest also splitting the fees as you have to put in a lot of effort.Paid off mortgage nine years early in 2013. Now picking and choosing our work to fit in with the rest of our lives!
Still thrifty though, after all these years:D0 -
I agree, splitting the fees seems fairer. I've been imagining doing that with the stuff that belongs to my sister that I was trying to sell before Christmas. Your friend probably won't know how steep the fees are, remember.2023: the year I get to buy a car0

I've got to do a lot of research on it before I'd be confident to have a go, but I would like to dip my toe in the water.Secret_Saving_Squirrel wrote: »I think your friend is getting a very good deal, Goldie. That's a good idea about the fees. When I started selling my friend's things I thought of it as more as a hobby,,but I didn't fully appreciate how much time it would take up, and quite how much stuff she'd have to sell. I've been doing this for two and a half years, and there still seems to be a steady supply of things!
I think I'll mention it to her next time I see her.Early retired - 18th December 2014

Wow, that's a lot of reading to do - well done, and thank you

It's been a fairly non-descript type of day today. We did had a nice walk, but very little else has happened.
After the success of the cupboard under the stairs reorganisation, we started talking about shelving for the garage. But our vision for the garage seems to be totally different to each other. I know we intend to de-clutter in the garage, but what Mr Goldie is proposing would hardly be any storage at all! At the moment we are both feeling vaguely disgruntled with each other - but we'll meet in the middle with something to suit us both - that's what normally happens!:rotfl:
A few items of clothing were decluttered to the charity bag, bringing the running total to 93.Early retired - 18th December 2014

"disgruntled with each other" ... that made me laugh
its the kind of low level thing that happens every day
How are you going to emerge victorious? :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
How are you going to emerge victorious? :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
I've been out in the garage with the tape measure, and what I was thinking of doesn't work very well, so victory isn't assured yet!:rotfl:
We are both agreed that we need a larger freezer, as our present one is too small for our batch cooking needs. The freezer can only be sited in one corner of the garage.
The problem is, the boiler is situated in a place which makes it awkward to put in lots of shelving.
Maybe additional large stacking storage boxes would be the answer.
What I think we should do is just start the decluttering process, and see what we are left with at the end, and then worry about how to store the things we are going to keep.
Bit for some reason Mr Goldie thinks we should buy the shelving before we start decluttering:mad:
It will seem like a victory if we can start de-cluttering without the final storage plan in place!Early retired - 18th December 2014
