    Thank you very much :)

With this PC it's generally going to be for CD ripping and then when I buy a new PC it will be used for XBMC so I am guessing they wont be cpu intensive tasks?
so your more the home theatre and media type.

I don't use XBMC, so I don't know how intensive it is when its in normal use.

cd ripping is neither here nor there when comes to CPU's use, most of that is done via the DVDwriter and caching, only when your upscaling video and encoding does the CPU get to see some tasking, but even then it wont load the CPU much to create high temps pver long periods.

I would hold off in getting the cooler and use the intel one for now.

when you get the system up and running and start to do what you normally intend the pc for is to download a cpu temp monitoring program and monitor the temps when using the system normally, its common to see the haswell peak to 45-60degC under 40-50% use. with some temp monitoring programs it will give you per core temp reading showing which core is operating the work load, then you could decide that a cooler is more better suited to you and go ahead and get one.

I always seem to run out of usb ports and this seemed an ideal way to add extra ports.

I do have the fan from my previous motherboard if that could be used again?

Would this be ok to put on the cpu? http://www.amazon.co.uk/Arctic-Cooling-MX-4-Thermal-Compound/dp/B0045JCFLY/ref=sr_1_13?ie=UTF8&qid=1396879643&sr=8-13&keywords=1150+cpu+cooler

Don't forget to clean the old TIM off before applying the new stuff as it will effect the preformance of your processor and it could run hot.

I use something like this Arctic Silver Arcticlean Thermal Matrial Remover & Surface Purifier or you could use 90% isopropyl alcohol and a coffee filter to wipe it off.
    Kind Regards

I got some cleaning fluid from the local pc shop, cleaned it and added roughly about a 5p piece size of paste on the processor.

PC is running really well now. Very pleased with my purchase.
