This is probably very basic, but as I'm not sure I'm asking. Please giggle quietly if so.
I have been given a laptop with a 2 pin plug on it (like a toothbrush or shaver).
Now, do I put this in a 'shaver adaptor' (With a 1amp fuse)
or can I put this in the socket
or can I hack the end off and replace it with a normal 3 pin plug (With what fuse?)
Its a MSi MS16GO
Many many thanks

CAREFUL! Are you sure it's a plug and not a transformer/power supply?
If it's a plug I'd be happy to use it in a shaver adaptor as I reckon it should draw less than 1A. You could replace it with a standard (square-pin) plug fitted with a 3A fuse if you wanted. Are you for real? - Glass Half Empty??

Just looked at the plug on mine and it's factory fitted with a 5 amp fuse. Looking at the ratings on the label (100-240v 1.5A input) I would have have expected a 3 amp to be more than adequate.0

            Shove a screwdriver......
Telling a person unfamiliar with the components of and different types of plug to stick a screwdriver into a wall mains socket doesn't seem a great idea to me....
OP could you not lay your hands on a proper international mains adapter? The ones that do 'anything to anything' these days are worth carrying whenever you travel anyway just watch out for fakes.
On the plus side the £15 cost of a proper adapter you will re-use time and time again is much less than funeral/cremation fees you having electricouted yourself.
(Alternatively could you post a photo of the entire cable/adapter you're asking about for more detailed advice)
EDIT: I was requested to remove my quote which preserved the dangerous advice.... even interfering with the earth connection in a socket can be hazardous as faults/damage elsewhere could potentially connect it to a live/neutral feed and have isolated it from it's ground 'sink' point. Have you really recently explicitly tested your earth connection is free of faults? Not worth the risk.0

Why not just put it in a travel adaptor (available at £land) and be safe.I started with nothing and I am proud to say I still have most of it left.0

            Really?
So a £1 adaptor is more expensive than a funeral???:wall: Flagellation, necrophilia and bestiality - Am I flogging a dead horse? :wall:
Any posts are my opinion and only that. Please read at your own risk.0

Does the cable separate from the charger and have an end like this:
If so, just get another cable, you'll probably have one lying around in a drawer somewhere.0
