Thoughts on a citroen c6
Options
Swore i'd never buy a diesel, or French, but im a sucker for rare cars, and a friend of a friend has a 2007 car he wants to change. Only owner and mate reckons he wants 4500 for it, which from looking up is pretty good. About 90k which is ok. Not seen the car yet but looked them up online and i must be crazy as i really like the look of them. Need a bigger car, got an iq and mr2 and soon to have 2 kids. Because they're rare its hard to find good solid info on what to look for, other than their fancy suspenson leaking.
Anyone want to talk me out of it?

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder......
However, almost £500 a year to tax would put me right off.....0 -
Did consider the £500 but ive lost more than that each year in depreciation on the IQ.0

I'd go for it.
They remind me of the CX I used to own back in the 80's... especially the concave rear screen0 -
A big citroen. Not something i would hand over my own money for.
Getting on for 7 Years old. How long left before that suspension starts to empty your wallet?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
One of these was for sale recently showing something like 140 errors on the diagnostics, everything is electronic including the parking brake.
Lovely car, different to everything else and i doubt Citroen will make another barge like it.
They did come in later years with the option of the 2.2 4 pot Diesel, thats in £280 VED band.0 -
Yeah thats the thing putting me off is the thought of the suspension failing 6 months down the line. Slept on it and decided not to go for it. Kids are expensive enough without worrying about complicated French electrics and plumbing. Think I'll be boring and end up with something like an Auris and just blend in on the road.0

People have been saying that about the suspension since the days of the DS - the basic hydropneumatic suspension has been around since the 1950s. It very, very rarely gives serious problems - certainly a lot more fundamentally reliable than the air and electronic systems on many other top-end vehicles.
The mechanicals and electronics are all basically parts-bin, shared with C5 and 407. There's a huge enthusiast support network for them, too. I'd _far_ rather have one than an equivalent value identikit Sales Manager mobile...0 -
Shame you didn't get it. I'd be tempted if one came up near me but then I very nearly bought a Renault Avantime a few years back.0

I quite like them, don't think I've ever seen one on the roads though. Remember seeing one on Top gear where they tried to Barry it out to make it as quick as an Evo, was a good episode. The doors looked quite cool. I once had a look at a vel satis before the wife talked me out of it and I ended up with the IQ instead. The silly things I'd do if I was left to my own devices.0 -

I've seen two on the road and the one that came up at a dealer about 2 miles from me.
I like the Vel Satis too.:o0
