Just wonder if anyone knows if you can load money ONTO a Credit Card... (NOT one of those pre-paid ones) but a Bank Credit Card ---- for instance I have a CC with Santander (attached to my bank a/c)... just wonder if anyone knows that you can do that... (I think you could a few years ago but I'm not sure if you can now).

Yes, but they don't like it. Technically you cannot be in credit but if you make a payment to your CC over and above what is owed, you will be in credit. Eventually they will send it back to you but not straight away but not sure why you would want to do that?0

Do a search as this comes up all the time.0

yes. you can. but why?
it is not the usual way to handle the account. there has been discussion on another forum re. the fact that if a positive balance were withdrawn fraudulently the cardholder is not covered in the same way..:think:0 -
I assume you want to do this because you want to purchase something and get the S75 protection? If so, even if you only pay £5 using your credit card and the rest using a debit card, you still get the protection.
To answer your actual questions; yes, you can. I've done it before by accident. I sent a faster payment when I forgot I had set up a direct debit on a newly-opened credit card, so effectively paid twice. Called Capital One and apologised, they were fine about it.What will your verse be?

It could be because the intended purchases exceed the credit limit?
i.e. £300 limit but item to purchase costs £400 but OP wants to use the card for the full transaction.
Can't pay £5 of the item if shopping online as you'd normally have to make one single payment.
To answer the question, I've 'loaded' money into my credit cards on various occasions but usually by accident or direct debit came out after I made a payment....call up and they send the money back.0 -
If it s to permit an increased spend for a larger purpose - don't bother.
It doesn't work that way, and the maximum debit cannot exceed the credit limit, even if the funds are there as a balance.0 -
As all above you CAN, but I think the Egg Money card was the only one to specifically allow you to do so, pretty much all others you'll be in breach of T&C's (although you might get away with it)Just wonder if anyone knows if you can load money ONTO a Credit Card... What you want is called... a bank account!0 -
Please name the card; I don't know if Santander offer more than one. Then someone can look at the T&Cs for you and report back. Or you could do it yourself.Just wonder if anyone knows if you can load money ONTO a Credit Card...
