I want to apply for a US dollar currency card, already got a Euro one. I can tick one or the other in the boxes on the application. Thanks.

The difference is that the money on the USD card is stored in US dollars while the Euro card stores Euros. If you use the Euro card in the US (or the USD card in Europe) you will have additional currency conversion charges.

You can also have the Caxton Global card where the money is stored in GBP and is converted as you use it.

I have the Euro, Dollar and Gobals cards. Each is useful in different cases.

Thanks, that's useful but not quite what I asked. The difference between a Primary and Secondary card is what I wanted to know. Also would it be possible to transfer unused euro's on a euro card to
dollars on a dollar card, and vice versa?

Oh I see. I don't think there is any difference between a primary and a secondary card.

I'm not sure if you can transfer between cards and even if you can, they may charge you an admin fee so it may not be worth it. I'd call them up and ask. I'd found the Caxton telephone support to be pretty good.

    the difference is

when you take out one of these cards the 1st card is the PRIMARY CARD and you have the option of a SECONDARY CARD just incase you lose the primary or go out for the day without it so the secondary card is like a backup card

they both work whatever one you use , i work for Travelex and we sell similar cards sometimes husband/wife have 2 cards

the money is drawn from the same pot of money you initially put on the card

    Hey me too!

Yeh basically, Kernow is correct. If you only have one card, then it is the primary card. If you have 2 cards, one is the primary card ie the main card and the secondary is the back up.

I've got both Euro and US$ Caxton cards and they both show as Primary.

As mentioned above you can have a secondary euro card linked to a primary euro card but you can only add funds to the primary card. If you use the secondary card then it uses funds loaded onto the primary euro card.

Hope that makes sense but regardless of that, to answer your question, you tick for a primary US$ card.

    Have a nice day!

Same costs as the Primary card. They are referring to the cost of purchasing the Secondary card. Though I think they credit what you pay for the card, to the card balance.
