Stop phoning & e-mailing- write a letter, send it recorded delivery(signed for) marking it as a compalint and then you can go to the ombudsman after eight weeks if they haven't sorted it out.
You can't get the ombudsman involved until you've exhausted the suppliers complaint process and they've either given you a deadlock letter or eight weeks has elapsed, so the sooner you get the complaint process initiated the sooner you can go to the ombudsman.
Phoning & e-mails just get lost in the call centres, recorded letters have to be signed for and they can't dispute whether they've been received if you've got proof of delivery so make sure you keep the receipt and track it so you know when it was delivered.

No need for recorded delivery, because often large companies do not sign for any way. Just send first class post, this is legally accepted as delivered & received, regardless of what the addressee may claim

    What!

Have you any evidence for this? If it's true then they shouldn't have the mail delivered, !!!!!!! This defeats the whole object of the scheme and renders it useless and a total waste of money.

When my insurance company lost several original receipts I was glad that I'd sent them recorded as they couldn't argue. I also made sure I kept copies just in case. I reckon that without my having proof of delivery I would still be arguing my claim. However, you do what you feel is right

Yes, but you can do your own Googling, a free proof of posting would be a good idea though, ask for it at PO counter

    Ninth Anniversary Combo Breaker
Update from me: I have a customer complaint number from nPower by e-mail (from my CEO e-mail) from head of customer services.

It does not, however, say whether I am safe from having my credit rating trashed while they sort out... whatever it is they're doing.

I've told the rest of my family, and those who are using nPower are making the arrangements to switch away, having seen the numerous horror stories (here, and on other newspaper websites) that attest to the incompetence and disrespect that customers have been treated with.
I use voice dictation software to create many of my posts. I correct obvious errors if I spot them, but I aim to post quickly to keep the conversation moving. Please therefore disregard odd spelling/grammar in my posts if you see it. Thank you!

    None whatsoever.

Proof of posting is certainly not considered proof of delivery, and you'll only get a proof of posting if you request one at the time from the post office.

Anyone can claim they posted a letter, and without evidence, in law it will never stand up to scrutiny.

If you want proof of delivery, you need to buy that service - hence why it is offered.

If you buy the service and no proof is obtained (and probably presuming the item is not returned to you as undeliverable), then you can claim compo.

Courts send out things like CCJ notices by regular mail. Try telling them you didn't receive it if they say they posted it.
A free proof of posting is generally sufficient evidence that you sent something. Many government organisations have their post go through a central sorting centre. DWP do for example. Anything sent recorded to them gets scribbled as received by a Royal Mail employee before going into the DWP distribution system, so you still have no proof of it arriving at the department you sent it to.
However, I would guess recorded delivery gives you a little comfort and proof it at least made part of its journey successfully.
