EE joins O2 with yearly RPI increases.
So, after Ofcom clarified the rules around mid contract price increases in a bid to stop them, some networks agreed and explicitly stated that they would not increase prices during the contract term. Three and Tesco were the two major networks who promised this. Other networks such as O2 chose to take a different approach and found a loophole which allowed them to increase the contract price by RPI every year as long as the customer was informed this would happen at point of sale. In effect, customers were now signing up to a flexible contract with O2 and giving O2 their permission to screw them over by raising the price every year in line with RPI.
Vodafone and EE have remained quiet until recently. EE have now announced they'll be increasing prices for customers who joined before January 23rd by 2.7% in May. And for customers who joined after March, EE will be using the same tactic as O2 and automatically raising prices in line with RPI every year starting in next March.
My advice, don't join EE and O2 if you're against mid contract price increases.

Contracts entered from the 26th March will be subject to terms and conditions stating that their monthly price plan will be increased in March each year by the latest rate of RPI. The first increase does not take place until March 2015.
My advice, don't join EE and O2 if you're against mid contract price increases.
