I used to put a fair use clause in the lodger agreement for internet use, covering items such as downloading, file sharing, illegal activities etc. I also configured my router to manage the traffic. Depending on your router, you can block specific sites, keywords and restrict connection speeds over the WiFi for specific users.

See if your connection can support two separate networks: this is something that Virgin Media have offered as part of upgrading my broadband package. That way, one user of your wi-fi cannot see material transmitted by the other, and if any undesirable internet use takes place it will be clear which user was responsible.

If you are comfortable with messing with your router, set up an account to use https://www.opendns.org which lets you block dodgy websites

If part of the same workgroup he can access your files off of your file shares . Will probally need to know your logon password for the UNC path ways .

I wouldn't be so worried about what hes browsing , i would be more worried about your download bandwidth limit ! .

On the contrary, two PCs on the same router/wi-fi would generally be trusted and might share music library/files/printers unless all that was deliberately turned off

Now you've got me worried !

I assume a browser that I use would not show anything on his computer ? How do I turn off any sharing that might occur ? There's nothing going into "Shared Documents"

Google it . "how to turn off file sharing on a network "

Also make sure remote desktop is not enabled

    And firewall up :)
  • thanks I am getting a new phone line installed in his name so all his browsing are tracked against him. I know it's expensive but less hassle in today's time
