  • Hi DFW's,

Its been a semi-productive day, all the cleaning & laundry is done but still haven't got near the decluttering I had planned! I've had an NSD so far today but myself & DD are contemplating a take-away so there goes the NSD. The only MSE thing I've done today is list my old iPod Classic on ebay, its been sitting in the drawer for years but noticed they are going for OK money so I've listed it. So fingers crossed it makes a bit of money for me!

Happy Saturday to you all

  • Hi DFW's,

I had a very productive day today, I did something very MSE! I took a Wii console, a DS lite, a 3DS Console, Apple iPod and lots of Wii & DS games (now I mean lots!) down to a software exchange shop and cashed the lot in for over €430. I'm delighted, they were all just sitting round the house not being used so money back in my pocket and a spot of decluttering at the same time. Most of the cash belongs to DD and she is thrilled as she has been saving for a new phone. My share is going towards debt and I treated us to a take-away tonight too as we didnt have one last night in the end! I took the Apple ipod listing down off ebay, it was easier to just sell to the shop and I got a nice price for it and no hassle of having to post it anywhere. The same shop buy DVD's so I have a load of them bagged up at my front door to drop down tomorrow. This is mainly thanks to a good friend who pushed me into going down with all the stuff I had at home, she even came down with me and helped me carry it to the shop, she rocks! :j We were both really surprised with how much it all added up to, it just shows there is money to be got from unused items!

So an NSD yesterday and up €430 today - Feeling very accomplished this weekend! :T

I can't believe its Sunday night already, I'm going to have a shower and an early night. Hope you all have a nice Sunday night :D

  • Hi DFW's,

Oops I haven't posted in a few days! Not much to report really, I've had NSD's on Monday and Wednesday. Spent about €32 on Tuesday on groceries. And I'm still loving YNAB, my free trial ended on Tuesday so I subscribed too. That's been all my spending so far this week so not doing too badly.

I collected the money for the consoles and games on Sunday and added another €35 worth of DVD's to the trade-in. So all in all a very productive exercise. I really should tackle the attic and either do a car boot sale or start listing on Ebay!

Happy Thursday to you all :D

  • Brilliant about the exchange shop, much less hassle that selling on eBay! I've got an old DSLR camera that I've been contemplating listing on eBay but have been really put off the idea by the thought of getting a dodgy buyer (I don't mind so much when it is clothes because those are relatively low value, but having to refund over £100 for a camera really puts me off). I will find out where my local exchange shop is, and have a good sort out to see if there is anything else that can go!
  • Hi Disco Dolly :hello:
Just read through your thread, well done on the debt busting! You must feel so pleased so far :T:T
I became debt free a few years back and i haven't looked back. I absolutely swear i will not have debt in my name (bar a morgage) ever again.
I'm now working on upping my savings - as is my signature. I am starting my emergency again as i threw it at a holiday for myself and DD last year :o Life is too short not to have those special times with your little ones i feel. I actually have a separate saving account (envelope lol) for holiday/days out fund now.

Good luck with your 2017 plan!
    Emergency Savings #73 = £1,500/£2,000
    Savings Pot £1,440.00

GC I was delighted to get rid of it all and so surprised with the money we got, I know we would have got more on Ebay for some of the items but it was just so much less hassle to bring it all to one place and get the money all in one go. I agree on the fear of possibly having to refund someone for a big amount, that would be a right pain after thinking you had something sold. I still intend clearing the attic and doing a car boot sale, I don't think I'll make much but it would get rid of a lot of stuff hopefully. I've been reading Marie Kondo's book lately and I want to declutter my whole house, so far I've only managed to read and not actually declutter though LOL

Hi HoneyBee83, thanks for reading. Well done on being debt free, I really cant wait to have that feeling. I want to be the same, only have the mortgage left after this debt is gone, then I hope to tackle the mortgage, I've never made an over-payment. I'm definitely going to concentrate on savings first though and try to get emergency fund back in full and then try to build 3 months expenses as savings. I'm really hoping to be in the position to start saving in June if my plan all works out. It really all depends on my work bonus and I have no idea of the actual amount yet, so its a waiting game! Best of luck with your savings.

  • Morning DFW's,

This week has really flown by! Really busy in work and I seem to have had visitors most evening this week so its been quite hectic.

I have managed another NSD yesterday, quite proud of that. I don't think today will be though as I have a few bits & pieces to get and tomorrow I am planning a cinema trip so that's not going to be an NSD either. But overall its not going too badly. I'm in quite a good position, its not payday until next Friday but I can't see anything major coming up.

I have one payday before our yearly bonus is paid and I'm still hoping to be able to clear the loan then and bring my debt right down to €4k (just one debt!) before the end of March. It all hangs on the bonus amount though. Fingers crossed it all works out :j

Happy Friday to you all :D

  • Afternoon DFW's,

Not much to report today. Yesterday wasnt an NSD, picked up a present for my mam, saw something I knew she wanted and bought it. Ended up going out to give it to her yesterday evening and stayed for tea and a long chat by the fire, it was lovely. I had a lie in this morning and now I am catching up on cleaning and laundry.

Going to the cinema tonight with a friend so looking forward to that. Hopefully Sunday will be an NSD. Payday is not til Friday so I've challenged myself to last on the cash thats in my wallet and not go near an ATM til then.

Washing machine is calling me, first load done, only 4 more to go! The excitement of my life eh?!

    Enjoy your Saturday DFW's

  • Hi DFW's,

Ooops I haven't updated this diary since the weekend. Not much to report really though, its the day before payday so I am living for tomorrow to make some more debt repayments. I had NSD's on Sunday Monday and Tuesday. Spent a little yesterday and today but that should be it now til I get paid tomorrow. I managed to live on the little bit of cash I had in my wallet, I think I have €6 left which I should really put into my savings jar this evening. YNAB is still going well, I am very conscious of category balances and spending in general has gone down.

I re-did my debt repayment plan last night and am tempted to flip it on its head and pay the CC first while its 0% (only til mid March), I could save more on interest that way but my dilemma is I think I should clear the loan first in case my car gives up, that way if I did need to borrow for a car I would be able to. Mind you I am going to try to avoid borrowing and hoping my car lasts me a little longer and gives me a chance to save for a newer car after debt repayment is done! Decisions decisions!

    Happy Thursday to you all!
