delay Santander>Nationwide

thank you both.
i always assumed the delay was Co-op Bank..
i have already made a test payment from Nationwide to my Barclaycard....just £10....and will be making a further payment out of the funds that arrive. i hope that will be today. any later than monday could be a bit of a problem for me.0 -
Santander are perhaps the most assiduous in their automatic 'fraud' checks for the 1st payment to a new payee account, and again if the 1st payment is a £1 'test' followed by a larger payment.
Apparently this is because the £1 'test' payment is often used by fraudsters - as well as by those of us who like to check we've entered the correct details before moving our money
In my experience, the payment will usually arrive a few hours later, but will occasionally be delayed until the next day. Subsequent payments are invariably instantaneous.0 -
ive actually left the office now, not back til monday morning. and have realised i need my Customer Number to Login to nationwide.co.uk:doh:0

I found similiar with a new transfer set up between Satander & TSB. I think when its a new payment setup be prepared to wait 24hrs. I had a similar experience when transfering funds into 4 of 6 TSB accounts from Satander. Id think when the transfer mandate are set up the proccess will run smoothly just the initial payment may take added time0

Assuming your debit card and card reader aren't in the office too?...

no, i remembered them. my host for the evening was delighted when i rolled up with those, rather than a bottle of wine;)0

it Is the first payment between those 2 accounts, yes YB.
but it seemed to go through straight away, and is certainly showing as debited from my Sant account..
I did a transfer from my 123 to flex direct last weekend and as it was the first payment they stopped it for security checks. Was told to wait 16 hours and then call back if it wasn't showing in the flex direct account. Eventually I called back again and spoke to the security team who after asking me lots of questions (including my national security number) let the payment go through. They advised that I can expect this to happen again whenever I set up new payments - Oh joy!!0 -

National security number?
As I posted earlier - Santander are assiduous in their checks, but every payment I have made from 123 accounts has arrived within the FP time limit0 -

Do not ever call them in the future.
What may happen is you will get an automated call from Santander asking you for your month of birth or some random info. Don't complain or get suspicious, just answer the questions and the money will arrive just fine.
If you suddenly increase the amount that you pay a payee, e.g. regularly pay someone £50 per month then one month send £500, the same sort of thing may happen0 -
Saturday was the 5th.
The payment shows as received today, 7th, as "Credit 06 April 2014".
Hopefully it will be straight away in future.0
