Council Tax..poor customer service

Ps that's shoddy re online service only. I know of more than one household of elderly folk that do not have internet access & would struggle to attend an office interview.
Accessible services need to be accessible to all- even those without the WWW.
My rant over. Apologies for thread hijack0 -
The comment was a constructive one, there was no need to become quite so rude.
I see there is still no apology for your bankruptcy comment - it was quite clear you were making a nasty dig. Such a shame when people resort to such low comments, it says a great deal more about you than the former BR
How was the comment constructive regarding customer service, if you offer a service it would be nice if you could manage to do it relatively correctly, not wrong time after time?
You have taken my comment as a dig...if people have problems with their finances to a degree of bankruptcy , I think it's a a constructive comment to ask if they want help with their finances in the future.0 -

Yes I was quite surprised that it was online only, hence they suggested the library for her to access the internet.
It took their member of staff several attempts to get through the pages on the computer as she kept missing boxes etc and could not progress to the next section, guess it's quite a new system for them.0 -

If you read my thread fully you'd see I was discharged ten years ago
Safe to say, any problems I might have had have been resolved. Happy to listen your input though, if you think you have anything constructive to add

Claire21 you should have just have said it was you from the start then you wouldn't have got all the abuse. Some people just like to bash foreigners regardless.
Not really sure how learning English is a constructive comment when the problem is missing photocopies of proof of id and inability to type details into a computer.
Good luck with your complaint.Play nice  Just because I am paranoid doesn't mean they are not out to get me.:j0 -
I agree that you should complain about this. It's either the system in the office or people not doing their jobs correctly.
Did you get a receipt for the documents provided?0 -
Thanks both for your comments
Yes I really didn't think mentioning someone's country of birth would be such a problem.
No receipt was offered, and I didn't ask. I didn't even think of asking for the ladies name. I haven't ever been inside a council office so was unsure of how the meeting would proceed, I just expected that they knew their job.
I am very much aware in today's society there are cut backs in staffing but found it difficult to understand how that many mistakes can be made on one persons visit. I'm not one to complain, I guess I just found it frustrating and would like to think the level of customer service I offer in business was better than that.
I am well aware you can't balm the staff when perhaps they have inadequate man power, or training , or even procedures in place that fail...hence starting my post with just need to get it of my chest.
I guess I'm more annoyed with my response on the phone after the letters..being met with we don't have the info you must bring it in again, with no suggestion of "I hear what your saying, we will try and look into it and phone you back " a little understanding goes a long way.0 -
When I had dealings with housing benefit and council tax, they give a receipt. It's A4 size, with tick boxes for bank statements, IDs and so on, and space to write specific comments. It was on duplicate paper so they kept a copy and I get a copy.
It doesn't seem right that you didn't receive anything.0 -

I really wouldn't wait for the call back.
Go into the offices on Monday and take all the relevant paperwork with you (again)
This time get a receipt for your paperwork and note the date/time/ name of the person you deal with.
The claim will not be processed until they have all the relevant paperwork. They seem to be totally inefficient BUT
at the moment you have no 'proof' that they have copies of the paperwork.
The receipt/date/person's name will protect you if you make a complaint/need to appeal.0
