Phones4u W610i: Too Good To Be True?
I've been looking at this phone for a while now and the deals haven't been that good. Today I looked on the Phones4u website and saw this deal:
http://www.phones4u.co.uk/shop/shop_contract_details.asp?ItemKey=161917&MPItemKey=165794
So that's £40 a month for 12 months, with £480 cashback claimed on month 6, 8, 10 and 12. So in effect you pay nothing at all for the phone and the calls? I'm so tempted by this but surely it's too good to be true. I haven't seen a deal like this before on such a new phone.
So, is it too good to be true? How are Phones4u for cashback, i.e are they reliable?
Thanks for your help!

Saw that two weeks ago. Just try getting any written replies to email questions about the details of their cashback. Besides, there are much better deals around IF you want to take a degree of risk and spend a while really understanding the t&c etc.0

I'd rather stick with the bigger companies like Phones4U. The last cashback on month 12 is £192! Would be really awful if they didn't pay that.
I think surely bigger companies like P4U must honour cashback deals like this one. I really want it, but can't decide between the W610i and the K810i. I was just about to order the K810i from Dialaphone but now I've seen this I think I've changed my mind.0 -
Dream on - Phones4U are the pits; I looked at them before the other one and ruled them out after several emailed questions with zero response and tons of negative feedback on reviw sites. I have nine contracts and more soon and not lost a cashback yet - though can't see Phones4U paying me like the rest do! I stick with companies who are clear and respond.0

mobile junkie...are you confusing Phones4U with Phones2udirect? Phones2udirect are the cowboys. They do not pay cashback and they do not answer emails.0

Id say its a good deal and cant see a reputable company like them not paying out the cashback. They tend to offer good deals like this on clearanc handsets a lot in my local storeWins so far this year: Mum to be bath set, follow me Domino Dog, Vital baby feeding set, Spiderman goody bag, free pack of Kiplings cakes, £15 love to shop voucher, HTC Desire, Olive oil cooking spray, Original Source Strawberry Shower Gel, Garnier skin care hamper, Marc Jacobs fragrance.0

I do know the difference - honest. Have you actually tried emailing Phones4U? Such a big company; why do they have so many customers in their shops complaining on the internet and hardly any satisfied ones? I would have gone for the deal because the Quidco cashback is higher, but the phone isn;t as good as others (good though it is) and without CLEAR and understandable cashback answers to very specific questions they can keep it! By the way; have you actually checked out their latest cashback structure? It's drastically chnaged for the worse since I first took a detailed peek!
As for Phones2UDirect, well; I'm always prepared to go to court if I have to, but would rather stick with companies whose terms are a) understandable, b) achievable AND where they still don't insist that you do so before they pay!!0 -
ps I'd like to know how many people think Phones4U are reputable!! Check out feedback on the web - it's almost universally BAD, even for their shops! Size and names don't equal a good reputation!0

Who are the companies that you suggest are good at paying cashback claims?0 -
Through a lot of reading on here and other threads over a long period of time and personal experience E2Save have served me well. Onestop (also cpw) are ok, but things change. They are sometimes bad as well as good. Coolnewmobile and Phonebox Direct seem to have been basically ok, BUT pretend to be MUCH larger than they are and have become less reliable lately. Much of the time it's because people haven't followed the t&c and then blame the companies - but a few are notorious sharks to be avoided. With most you can make a fair judgement from these threads if you spend long enough reading them all. Then it's up to you to know how things work with each one and be VERY organised - like me!0

ps if you don;t mind ordering by phone Dialaphone seems to have many good passing feedback. Unfortunately their on-line deals aren't so great!0
