After arriving 3 days late I kept it for about 12 days and noted all the issues such as grooves in the neck and the uneven finish. I then contacted the retailer to point out the faults
Why on earth did you take 12 days to do this?
'Noting all the issues' on a guitar takes a matter of minutes, not days.0 -

Sometimes life gets in the way. Fortunately the law recognises this and does not demand you inspect items immediately. Instead you are afforded a "reasonable time" to inspect the goods and see whether they conform to contract.
Whats a reasonable time depends on the circumstances.
There is also a change coming to consumer law in june - which gives 30 days minimum to inspect the goods. You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
you assume wrong. I bought this guitar from a small music shop over the internet.0

Why not buy local then?
Why does it matter?
People come here for help with consumer rights. A huge number of threads we get here are in relation to DSRs. Are you going to question every one of them?
Perhaps it was a small local shop. Perhaps OP lives in the middle of nowhere/doesnt live close to a "local" shop. Or perhaps you're just jumping to conclusions - this could be the first time the OP's ever purchased something online!
More to the point, the OP is free to spend their money where they choose without justifying themselves to a random on the internet. You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
Why not buy local then?
- You get more rights from buying online
- You can shop online whenever you want, even when the shop is shut
- You can't be met with pushy sales tactics online.
- You don't use petrol or have the hassle of parking the car.
- The local shop might not have the right thing, or might offer poor customer service.
The list could go on, but as unholyangel said does it matter? OP has a problem and asked if they had any rights. Not for a debate on the ethics of shopping online.0 -
Back to the point...
What date did it arrive?
What date did you notify them that you wanted to return it?
Does this fit with the 7 working days of distance selling regulations?
How did you notify them?Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
Last week I bought a laptop from Amazon. Why not buy local then?
This laptop was £185 cheaper than buying in my local town, I didn't have to drive anywhere then possibly spend ages trying to find somewhere to park and then having to pay £2.20 to leave my car for 30 minutes.
The laptop was delivered the day after I ordered it and I was able to try it out to ensure that it was suitable for me knowing that if it wasn't, I could simply pay the return postage costs and get a full, no hassle refund and also knowing that if I had any problems in the future, I probably wouldn't have to fight to get my consumer rights enforced.
I would be more than happy to "buy local" if the buying local experience wasn't quite so expensive and offered a reasonably good sales and aftersales experience.
Remind me again, why would I want to "buy local"?0 -
Can the Mods do anything about the trolls on the page ?
