Old Style Daily Thread Saturday 5th April
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning everyone

Hugs to those that want/need them.

Now getting light, looks dry with no breeze at the moment.

DH and DS1 up and gone to work stupid early.

Had a text yesterday from DS2 to say they’d arrived all safe.

Dinner last night was chicken and bacon kievs, chips and beans for the menfolk. I had mushroom omelette and salad. Tonight I’m not sure what we will be having but have quite a bit in stock – so will be able to organise something.

Was reasonably productive yesterday, got the remaining washing, drying and most of the ironing done, still some ironing left as the last bits weren’t dry enough to iron. Didn’t get any baking done – so may do that this morning.

Had an awful night again, fell asleep on sofa and woke up at 1.30am, went to bed and then couldn’t sleep so have given in and got up – now enjoying a cuppa. Just when I thought I’d got past this – it’s all started again – things rolling round in my mind and my brain just then not switching off, didn’t keep myself as busy as I have been yesterday afternoon, that could be the problem. Will try to keep busy this morning – we should be visiting friends this afternoon who are camping not too far away – so that will be good to catch up. We then have several things to do tomorrow – so will keep quite busy then back to work on Monday.

Have a great Saturday, and good luck to all sports people as there’s lots of sport this weekend x

Keep safe and well x

• Good morning nmlc and to all who cross/follow,
Jackie and Molly, i hope all goes well with your operations. Will be thinking of you both.
Lovely and sunny here at the moment.
Finished work for the Easter holidays now. Will be nice to potter about at my leisure.
Have got another awful sore throat again. I have had it all week. DD has got it too. We also took her to the out of hours Drs last night, she has a dreadful eye infection, so drops for her.
Need to go shopping this morning. Have a good hoover round and a general tidy up.
Chicken for tea tonight with salad.
I hope everyone has a good day and hugs to those who need them.

Good Morning everyone ,well the clock is ticking and the countdown is on :):):). Youngest DD is coming at 6 tonight to give me my blood thinning jab in my tum :):) This time tomorrow I am hopefully going to be sound asleep getting my op done.I am so pleased that at long last I shall start to feel more like my old self again and be able to get some nice bra's to wear. The prosthesis was hot and uncomfortable to wear and I shan't be sorry to get rid of it.(just trying to think of what I could recycle it in to :):):))My youngest DGS want to use them as footballs but I said no !!!:):):)
I am going to be hoovering and tidying up today, so there is nothing to do when I come home next week.I have all of my shopping in, so I can rest up and probably read when I come home from the hospital.

Well, looking out of the window the sun is up and shining beautifully down on my garden. My gardener came on Thursday and the lawn is cut and really looking nice If the weather stays as sunny as this I may even sit out in the sun this afternoon for awhile.Thank you all for your good wishes and fingers crossed I shall 'see' you all at some point next week when they let me out :):):)
Take care everyone
Cheers JackieO xxx

Morning :hello:

The plumber was here yesterday, the new boiler is on the wall and he's filled the system. The gas man is coming this morning to connect the gas. Plumber was worried about us having no gas for 24 hrs, but we told him to carry on because we have an electric shower and oven, it's only the hob that we couldn't use and we can boil water for washing up. I use a hob kettle but keep a value electric one in the shed for such things :D It's cold this morning – typical! - so I've dragged an old heater out of the shed and have put it in the bathroom to warm it up. Can't cope with a shower in a cold bathroom :D

We changed our minds about the fence and have chosen a slighty different type. Ours is in such a state that we can't wait a month to get it sorted. Our landscaper friend bought the supplies on his account (big discount!!) and him and mr tru picked it all up yesterday. We're now having feather edge which will be stronger.

So I had a house full of men yesterday. Sounds wonderful but it really wasn't :rotfl: Can't wait for tidiness, peace and quiet this afternoon.

The boiler is in the utility room (it's tiny, about the same size as a downstairs loo but a little bit wider). I completely emptied it before the plumber came round and I'm amazed at how much came out of there – the washing machine, cleaning supplies, iron and ironing board (why? I never use them, lol), coats, empty jars waiting for jams and chutneys, two small shelving units and a hoover :D I also have a rail with hooks, for hanging my shopping bags, spare carriers, feather duster, dustpan and brush and for some reason, a small toy chicken :D We cut an old wooden curtain pole in half and fixed them high up across the room, they're perfect for hanging clothes to dry in winter. Also store spare hangers up there because I HATE empty hangers in the wardrobe :D I'm going to scrub the room later before putting everything back in.

Jackie and Molly Good luck to both of you, I'm thinking of you xxx

Hi everyone,

DS and GF are back from Rome today. I've not heard a peep from them so I'm hoping they had a good time. At least nothing seems to have gone wrong or we would have heard, it wouldn't be the first time we've had to try and sort holiday disasters from hundreds (and sometimes thousands) of miles away.

Air France lost DD's bag between London and Paris when she missed her flight to Venezuela. She got it back on Wednesday, although AF didn't tell her, it just turned up on the flight back to London. Last night she got a text from them, saying that they were delivering her bag to her address, I wonder whose bag she'll get.

I'm hoping DH will fix the leaking kitchen tap today, I got the new fittings this week. I want to put the binding on the quilt I'm making then all it needs is the hand sewing and it will be finished.

Have a good day.

Morning everyone,

Molly and Jackie Best wishes for your operations.

Hester End of term at last, can't believe that it is finally the holidays.

nmlc You sound like you need a hug.

LW Enjoy your furry visitors.

Enjoying a quiet cup of tea before the house wakes up. DS stayed at his GFs last night, I hope that he is back in time for work.
So happy that the Easter holidays are finally here, there will be GCSE and A level revision going on in our house so it will be a very quiet holiday, just what I need.

Have a lovely day everyone.:)

Well the forecast is now dry :D:T:j

Major disaster - DNeice travelling by train brought their outfits to us to bring down, looks like I left her outfit at home :o. DH now run her to Next as it opens to see if she can get a duplicate then take one back when she gets home. If not we will pay for the replacement, it would cripple them, and we will cope.

Had a nice meal with the outlaws last night, but ended up eating far to late, as restaurant was slow. Needed to really stock up in breakfast this morning as not eating until 4.30ish, but really still full from last night.

((Hugs)) for the ops Jackie & Molly

Just had a call - got the exact outfit :D:D. Prayers answered twice.

((Hugs)), spoons, etc., take care everyone. I have promised photos on FB. DG

Good morning everyone :)

Lovely sleep in until 8am today made me feel considerably better.

Chilling day planned, just pottering around. Was going to see DD and GDD until DH reminded me it's the Grand National so will stay away from that end of town and leave it until tomorrow.

Lamb chops for dinner, with fried courgettes and Greek Salad. Yum!

Jackie O and Molly - hope all goes well with the operations, please come back safely to us and let us know how you are x

LW - am very glad to see you have the princesses staying, they are so cute

DG - oh no about the outfit, hope you can take the other one back. Have a lovely day

candlelight - it's lovely to have you visiting us, why not stick around, this is a super place :hello:

Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those that need or just want them. Keep well and safe and have a super day :)
