I'm really happy with my shop. 17p for a bottle of lemonade and its a hell of a lot better than ASDA or Sainsbury's version.
Microwave rice is half the price of other supermarkets and is exactly the same, plus the meat is fantastic.
Wish i'd have done this a lot sooner.
I know EXACTLY how you feel. I also swapped to lidl washing powder for my clothes...I am sure that Aldi ' s own brand is just as good from what I have read. Both washing powder and fabric conditioner are much cheaper than branded stuff, and are just as good. Washing up liquid too.PAYDBX 2016 #55 100% paid! :j Officially bad debt free...don't count my mortgage.
Now to start saving...it's a whole new world!!0 -
Just negotiated a 30% reduction of a £60 debt which isnt a lot but every little helps.
They only offered 10% at first.
The partial settlement indicator doesn't bother me as my credit rating is broken beyond belief.
Just waiting to hear back from a couple of others now so hopefully i can get rid of a few of my debts at a decent discount.
I quite like this negotiating business i feel empowered

Good for you there's no harm in asking for a discount. The worst they can say is no.
I just managed to swap my mobile phone to sim only.Am due for upgrade today so told them I wanted to cancel my contract. My mobile bill was £38 per month but after some haggling and threatening to leave, also quoting deals that other providers are currently offering I got the same minutes, texts, data that I already have but settled for £13,00 per month.
Very pleased.0 -
Great stuff,
i'm gonna haggle everywhere i go from now on, im gonna try and get a lot of these debts negotiated to F+F's if can get £30% of them all Its over 2k gone.
I'm wondering whether to go at my debts with a different strategy now.
The plan was to go into a DMP however im considering putting that on hold and maybe try and negotiate a few F+F's over the next few months and see where i get up to. I have £190 a month excess for creditors plus theres some overtime this month so if i could tackle a few of my lower debts with F+F's maybe give me a better chance of hitting my target.Total Debt April 2014 = £6756

You sound so much more positive from your first post. Its addictive all this debt busting isn't it lol (but a good addiction at that.)
Even if you pay a little extra towards your debts they are coming down and not up.
I too am looking at it as a challenge and tackling one at a time. A little here and there will soon mount up.
Keep going0 -
Yes, very addictive!
It's turning into a hobby rather than a daunting mountain of problems!
Feeling a lot happier now i've gained a bit of knowledge and knowing how to deal with the DCA's.
Again a big thanks to everyone who has posted on here.Total Debt April 2014 = £6756
