Hi everyone,newbie here.
I was previously with o2 and quite often sent group text messages out to my junior football teams parents, these always came off my text allowance.however i recently joined tesco mobile and was shocked to find out that by adding more than one recipient to a text message caused the message to be classed as a mms message and charged at 25p per recipient.has anyone else found this problem or is it common practice with all providers.cheers

On my handset there is a "Group Text" setting which sends group messages as MMS to help keep them in one thread. I also run a kids football team with 21 parents to contact - first setting I changed.....
The change of SIM may have changed the setting on your handset?0 -
Spoke to customer services, they say that any group text is classed as mms.group text is off in phone settings.cheers0

wow. are you sure? try speaking to a manager. tesco c s are really good so seems a bid odd this post.0

Spoke to different cs personnel ,both confirmed the same,if you compose a text message and add multiple contacts they convert it to a mms.also say you send it to five contacts you would think right one mms message,no its treated as five mms messages at 25p a go.the messages my son sent ,were all single line text messages with no attachments, surely this can not be right.0

I have sent texts to multiple recipients since joining Tesco Mobile and they come out of my allowance for texts. There is a setting in my phone which I ensure is unchecked that converts texts to multiple recipients to MMS.0

On my phone there is no setting to stop it doing this. I have had to download an alternative text messaging app to allow me to set it so that this is not the case.“Time is intended to be spent, not saved” - Alfred Wainwright0

im using a lumia 920, the only setting that i could change is the group message tab,but this is already set to off.
i don't understand how say sending the same text to five different contacts manually or letting your phone do it as a group automatically be classed in a different way.i appreciate it could be the phone converting it automatically to mms, however cs told me on two occasions that it was a network policy.
maybe if any reps from Tesco mobile are viewing this forum they could clear this matter up.
i must add that cs have been most helpful on every occasion that i have spoke with them.
ps what app did you use?0 -

I use gosms pro. Not the fastest as it has got more bloated over the years. Not sure if it is available on windows phones though.“Time is intended to be spent, not saved” - Alfred Wainwright0
