Failed hazard perception

Hello,
I've failed my driving theory test again (both times failed the hazard perception). Last time in 2 clips I got 0 points (one of them was the double hazard so lost 15 points) as the computer stated I clicked in an unacceptable manner. I'm really worried I'll fail again. I clicked a few times as I thought clicking early wouldn't get me any points if it's earlier than the start of the points window.
Do you have any advice on how to click?
Many thanks!

Has your driving instructor got some trial discs you can borrow? Is been a few years now but I'm sure my girls played on a sample theory test disc before they did it for real.0 -
Have you bought a practice DVD? I bought one when sitting my theory test and found the DVD handy, it explained what you should be looking out for and when you should be clicking. I'd been driving a while when I sat the theory test with hazard perception (didn't exist it when I sat the theory test initially for the car, was sitting it again for a bike license) but found the hazard perception test a bit odd and inconsistent - I don't know how I'd have done without the practice DVD but preferred having a bit more knowledge on how the test is supposed to work.

My driving instructor told me not to click in a pattern and I used to worry about that during the tests. I would only click once or twice when I saw a hazard.
I failed the hazard perception twice. On my third try, I forgot about what he said and as soon as I saw a hazard (please note it has to be a developing hazard and not a potential hazard), I just clicked about 15 times quickly.
Passed with flying colours the third time.
As an example, a person walking towards the kerb is a potential hazard, but becomes a developing hazard when the foot crosses the border of the kerb.
I suspect that, like an earlier poster said, you can click to your heart's content so long as there's an actual hazard on screen, but clicking when there's no hazard will register as cheating. What will your verse be?

When I done my Theory, I learned for hazard perception it helped if I clicked when I seen the hazard, counted one...two in my head and clicked again as it developed. It helps get a point or 3 even if you've clicked too early.0

And there lies the problem with the hazard perception test. Teaching people not to react until they step off (or the car doesn't stop at the giveway, or something pulls out past the parked lorry that's blocking you view, or.....) is a bad way to teach anticipation!0 -
Failed the hazard perception test? Bet you never saw that coming.0

Colleague failed it first time when going for his bike license (driving a long time in cars).
He was clicking too early.
He passed it the second time after working out where he was going wrong.
We also found that on the "test ones" on the interwebs that if you click every 3 seconds you tend to get full marks.
Not sure that would stand up on the real deal but it worked on those.0 -
When I booked my theory (albeit getting close to double figured years ago) they sent out a hazard perception video which showed you exactly how to do the test. I failed my first hazard perception because the video looked boring, rebooked the test and watched the video and passed.
Generally when you spot something that you notice could become a hazard that's when you click, not when it is a hazard - the key is in the name hazard perception not hazard reaction.
So for example your driving up a hilly road in te countryside and there are sheep in the field moving towards the road, when you see them heading for the road - click, not when they are in the road. Also things like speed limit signs should be clicked when you see the, not sure exactly why as it's not a hazard as such but demonstrates that you notice a change in speed is required etc.0 -
I was lucky to pass my hazard perception test first time, however when practicing I always found it incredibly hard because in reality, it's not a true test of 'hazard perception'. See, without real peripheral vision, how can you truly be observant of what's going on? See a hazard can be someone walking out of a shop to the side of the street, which you would very likely spot when driving through a town centre, but on a hazard perception test you won't spot them until they're by the edge of the road (simply because the camera lens isn't wide enough) and as you only have a short timeframe in which you can click I found this particularly annoying.
Doesn't help that the clips were also very low resolution when I did it, but anyway.
All I can recommend is practice disks, and NOT clicking randomly. You will fail if you do that, simple. You need to be constructive in your clicking. Rhythmic clicking, or rapid clicking will simply not work.0
