Not gonna lie; not sure I'd even want to do it for my kids. The negatives and pitfalls are endless. Just google 'pitfalls of being a guarantor.' There are some tales there that will make your hair stand on end.0 -
If you can afford to pay his rent for him, with no prospect of getting anything back, for an extended period, knowing the landlord has NO duty to mitigate its loss and has NO duty to evict him if he doesn't pay the rent, since you will be jointly and severally liable for the rent for as long as he lives there, then go ahead. Be a Guarantor for him.
If not, leave it well alone, you clearly have no idea what you are getting into, and by the time you do realise it will be too late.I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0
