Hickory Smokehouse in Newtownards, formerly Carlito's. Had a cracker of a meal a couple of weeks ago and the place is regularly packed

The meat is nice but I found the side dishes to be disappointing. Also, when I phoned to ask if they'd have a table free in 10 minutes (Sunday afternoon) the girl said she'd just have to check and disappeared for ages so I assumed the place must have been packed. No, when we got there, only two other tables were occupied! Service wasn't great either considering how few customers were in, had to ask for drinks which had been forgotten.

a barge museum on the Lagan, doesn't sound like a promising start. But ...
great local beer, very good food, friendly staff. Not cheap, but hey, you can't have everything.
