anyone heard of or own a techmobile phone?

hi guys, so my mother bought a phone from the local phone shop a couple days ago, she only wanted a basic one, and the guy sold her a techmobile phone for 60 pounds, i thought this was a bit of a rip of as it has very basic functions, and i've never even heard of the brand before, and can't find any mention of them anywhere online.
i think it might of been an old model or something that they were trying to fob of onto someone who doesn't know much about phones.
also i was wondering if you are able to get refunds for mobile's, and what are the options available for her. thanks.

    Tecmobile you mean?

Seems they have old style handsets for sale. Old style and basic but i guess some people may want that.

Unless mis-sold or faulty then she bought it and its hers. Options are its hers so use it. Probably not the answer you wanted but these things happen.

One of the range is similar to a 'doro' handset. There is definitely a market for this type of phone, particularly with the older generation who would never get their heads around a smartphone where you cant even see the keypad without navigating a few touch menus.

I bought my mum a doro a few years ago. I do get your point with the cost for something that seems so simple though. I think i paid about £100 for the doro. You are probably looking at it being a rip off from the point that its not a nice smartphone that can do all sorts. It might be just the sort of thing your mum wanted though.

No cooling-off period if bought in store, unless the phone shop's own returns policy offers it-which is most unlikely.
She hasn't been 'fobbed off', she chose that handset of her own free will. If she doesn't know much about handsets (which probably applies to more than half the population), then she had the option to ask your advice before purchasing.
It may be basic, but perfect for her needs.

They may sound like a rip-off as they don't have all the lights, bells and whistles that a smartphone has BUT they only make relatively few of them, not 100,s of thousands or even millions as its a niche market. Mainly for those who can't cope with the complexity of a smartphone, cant see the screen and cant operate the keypad.
I got a Binatone Mobile for my Mum It had very basic functions, big keyboard, good screen, a loud ringer, loud earphone as well, three preset buttons and a big red emergency button on the back (pre-grommed to call me in case of emergency). It would do texting but there was no way my 85 year old Mum was ever going to learn how to do that.
It looked like it came from Toys'Rus but it was really easy for her to use. It also had a charging dock which kept it charged and she then knew where it was. It cost £35 from Maplins and was an absolute boon and a bargain.
