HSBC PPI Reclaim Question(s) - Sorry :)

Hi,
Some more PPI questions, if someone can advise that'd be great
(1) I had a call this evening from HSBC PPI department asking for details on my employment dates many years ago and we agreed to discuss this Friday. The lady said my policy begun in June however I'm not sure I started work until July (I was inbetween jobs). I can't remember the exact dates of employment - are they trying to catch me out? What should I say?
(2) I have a successful claim on another policy I think. Will they include interest on this, or do I even have a right to any interest?
Many thanks all :money:

1 - if you weren't working the PPI was useless.
2 - depends on what you were complaining about.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -

I wasn't working the month I took out the loan, but I started the month after. Should I be honest about this or just say I don't remember? If the PPI was useless, that's a good thing right?2 - depends on what you were complaining about.
I've just claimed for being mis-sold PPI, how will that affect the interest?
Thanks0 -
The moment you started work the PPI ceased to be useless-so you were effectively without cover for a few weeks only. No point including this as part of your complaint.I wasn't working the month I took out the loan, but I started the month after. Should I be honest about this or just say I don't remember? If the PPI was useless, that's a good thing right?
If your complaint is upheld and full redress is offered, you'll receive a refund of all PPI paid, plus attendant interest, plus 8% simple interest.I've just claimed for being mis-sold PPI, how will that affect the interest?0 -

It's what happened at the point of sale that's important, so if you weren't working then, it's one of the best reasons, because it would never have covered you. It doesn't matter that you started work a few weeks after, if you hadn't found a job you couldnt have used it.I've just claimed for being mis-sold PPI, how will that affect the interest?
Thanks
If it was a credit card you will only get the interest if it would have been in credit, or if the card is closed.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -
it is common for people starting a new job to take out insurance. A month or two or even three is irrelevant. Most policies wont cover you during a probation period or early employment months anyway as you have to built up at least 3-6 months typically. So, taking out a policy in June but starting in July would not make it mis-sold if you knew you were starting work. Taking it out in June and starting work in December on the other hand would likely make it mis-sold as it is unlikely you would have such a delay in knowing when you are going to start work.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Thanks for that. So to clarify are you saying I only have a PPI claim on the few weeks before I was employed?

It would have covered the OP from exactly the period everyone else could claim. No claim can be made by anyone in the qualifying period, so those first few weeks make no difference whatsoever., it's one of the best reasons, because it would never have covered you.
EDIT;
I see Dunstonh beat me to it.0 -
I'm still not sure what I should say when we discuss this tomorrow. I think it'd be safer to just say I don't remember the dates?
For them to ask the question, it must mean they'll try to catch me out.0 -
No, we are telling you the fact that you were temporarily unemployed when you bought the insurance didn't affect your (eventual) ability to claim and so is NOT a complaint reason. So to clarify are you saying I only have a PPI claim on the few weeks before I was employed?
As dunstonh says, it would be different if you had remained unemployed because you could then never have claimed on the insurance.0 -
Since it's irrelevant to your complaint you can tell them the month you started your new job if you wish. They are not trying to "catch you out" and honesty is clearly the best policy.I'm still not sure what I should say when we discuss this tomorrow. I think it'd be safer to just say I don't remember the dates?0
