Loads of people have one word nicknames.

    Friends of mine:

    Kestral
    Vickster
    Star
    Bomber
    T-Bone

    To name just 5 :)

All born sometime in the 20th Century - oops!

Who has a two worded nickname? That's just odd if you ask me

You could sign up with 'The Vickster' but like I said it's not a nickname and people who have a two worded one will be rumbled at some point.

Maybe I was rumbled as I had the so out of date one worded names :)

LinkedIn imho is used for networking, having a nose at someones profile is something else. I do not treat it as facebook nor twitter, totally different things and not comparable

I have a nickname as my facebook profile and have had it for the last 6 years no problems, you do assume a awful lot on here with your replies

Networking, by its very definition, is about being nosy (at least, to a degree)

Well that was obviously a monumentally stupid thing to do, and a clear case of gross misconduct. It should have come as no surprise that there would be consequences.

Mind you, it wasn't exactly a professional (if albeit understandable) response from the boss either. What he should have done is to take a screen shot and call her in for a disciplinary meeting at work. I seriously doubt that it's any companies procedure to respond publicly to Facebook posts in this way and actually carry out the disciplinary and dismissal on Facebook itself :p

I maintain, that if you use these things responsibly then they aren't quite the horror story the thread title makes it out to be.

Ridiculous (but quite funny, really!) scenario.

Can't believe people spemd so much time ensuring that they only allow people outside of work to be friends on Facebook, whether they should mention having gone to see a rock group play in their spare time, that they support Norwich City, etc, etc. None of these type of things are likely to cause you end up being in trouble with your employer.

What this person posted was ridiculous. Hardly surprising she got sacked really, is it?
    Not rocket science really.
