BT Special offer discount expired

Hi, I just noticed that a contract I made over the phone with BT expires in 12 months, I was paying around £40 for broadband and phone but got it down to £27.50 after making a call.

However I did'nt realize it was only for 12 months and the price goes back to the normal price. So for the last year I thought I was still paying £27.50 But was actually paying £44

I was not informed of the price change.

Is it worth trying to ask BT for a refund of the "overpayment" or am I wasting my time?

Thanks

Its not an overpayment its the full contract price. You failed to negotiate a lower price.

I have an 18 month deal with Plusnet. I know when that ends they will charge the full going rate. So i either payup or contact them for a better deal or go elsewhere.

If they lead you to believe the deal was "for life" rather than just in return for a new 12 month minimum contract then you have grounds to complain and ask for a refund.

The issue should be easily resolved by them listening to the phone call when you agreed the deal.

Ask them to do so and provide a transcript and take it from their reply.

You didn't check your BT statement or bank statements for 12 months?
No deals are for life, nor are they fixed price. They're simply a discount of £x against the current price. If that rises, so does your price-only the discount remains fixed.

A call from over 2 years back? Might do better calling GCHQ to see if they still have it.
