YouGov poll suggests 68% of those polled back Farage in this debate.

27% of those polled back Clegg.

Suggestions that he went to fair in attacking Farage personally.

In or out, why are the main parties so against a referendum?

The grass roots of the parties probably aren't against a referendum. Its the leaderships of all 3 main parties that don't want to rock the boat.

Maybe down to future career opportunities, friends in business putting pressure on politicians to "do the right thing"...

    :DWho knows in all honesty.

Its just been stated that the poster that Clegg was holding up to the nation showing what UKIP wanted was from one UKIP councillor in the 1990's and the councillor was asked to remove it.

BBC are doing a fact check mission.

Dunno why the lib dems thought dragging that up was a good idea to be honest.

A 3rd of lib dems politicans thought Nigel Farage won. Over 50% of pro EU activists thought Nigel Farage won. Too many dodgy stats and insults from the lib dems apparently.

So it appears the Lib Dems did Farage's work for him.

Only now are the tories popping up and suggesting that we should give them a majority in the next election as it's the only way we will get the referendum "we want".

    Because it's a bad idea.
What's popular is not necessarily what's right.
Don't blame me, I voted Remain.

    It's not neccesarily wrong either.

It is, however, wrong to suggest we have a democracy, while suggesting we shouldn't have a say.

May as well stop holding elections then.
Just let the unelected European Commission get on with it.
    Nothing must hinder "The Project".

The debate in the end, was pretty pointless. Though I feel Farage came out well on top, and just counting up the applauses that each speaker got will show that.

I reckon at the next election the competing candidates should be paraded along the high street and a clapometer used to assess support.

Why bring everything down to this dumbed down, quite frankly, pathetic level?

For your info, the BBC were talking themselves about the rounds of applause Farage was getting compared to the lack of them for Clegg.

It's a way of looking at the level of support before you have had time to go further into polls and interviews.

As a very storng Pro-EU supporter, instead of lowering yourself to the levels Clegg did tonight, and saw support drop drastically as a result, why not say somethiing constructive instead of simply whining and whinging like a kid in response?

Clegg tends to be a little short on hard facts when pushed and prefers to make wild extrapolations about how dependent the UK is upon EU membership.

One I find annoying is when he quotes that someting like 50% of all uK trade is with the EU (probably true) but then assumes that leaving would mean that would all be lost (Utter rubbish)
