    I didnt realise this, I did a chargeback a couple of months ago for under £10 and it went through fine. Guess it will vary between companies.

    nope they'll generally do a chargeback for anything, just above £100 the credit card becomes jointly liable under the consumer credit act.

    When you write, (writing is always better) write copies and send them to the store manager and Area Manager by recorded delivery. That way someone has to sign for it and then you have proof they had it.
    If you can, send a photo to head office with the letter, again recorded delivery.
    Mention in the letter to the store that you have sent a copy of your complaint to head office addressed to the Managing director.
    If that don't get them moving, then trading standards.
