Dolcis

Bought a pair of shoes a few weeks ago from Dolcis, wore them out and half way through the night noticed that they were odd shoes.

Took them back today and sales assistant was going to change them for a new pair but they had no more left in my size so I asked for a refund so that I could go to another store to get another pair. Manager came over and said they could not give a refund as shoes had been worn and it was my responsibility to check that they were a match before wearing them. I stated that the sales assistant should have checked before they were sold.

Shoes have an unusual pattern on them so can be hard to spot the difference from a glance although after noticiing the difference you can't miss it, on one shoe the pattern goes vertical and on the other it is horizontal. Manager then hut out with the fact that as shoes are patterned there will be a slight difference in style. A slight difference I can take but not two patterns going in opposite directions.

As she was not standing down stated that I was unhappy and wanted to complain and asked who to contact. She told me to write to the Area Manager at same address as store. When I asked to speak to Area Manager was told that they weren't in. Asked for number of head office to make complaint as was unhappy about writing into store. (can only imagine manager will receive complaint and filing it under B I N)Was told I could not have number of head office as they did not deal with it.

Does anyone have the number for Dolcis head office? Their website is not up and running so cannot contact them that way.

Also can anyone tell me what my rights are?

Thanks in advance a very angry shoe shopper.

Just started comping again, wish me luck!!!

Strange one this-I cant find any contact number or Address for head office anywhere

Im not sure who is in the wrong here, maybe the shop are right but i also think that the onus is on them to ensure that the goods they supply are correct.

I would double check it was the Manager you spoke to,not just a stand in for the day (as happened to me).

Sorry just edited my post as i misread. My similar issue was with shoes that were were different sizes.
It could be down to interpretation.By odd i gather you mean dont match well, and it seems they are saying its not that noticable.Presumably you disagree. If they agree they are not matching whether you have worn them is irrelevant.

They are not saying they don't match. What they are saying is that as they are patterned there will be slight differences. I can accept that they won't be exactly the same but the fact is they are odd. The pattern on both of them is different in a very noticeable way. If I knew how to put a pic on I would show you.

I just want to get onto there head offices and get this sorted out.

Dolcis was a good company when owned by BSC, all changed now though!

Did you pay by credit card - if so get onto them, say you've been sold a pair of shoes that don't match and the company is refusing to refund. They should do a chargeback.

The goods are not of satisfactory quality.

Other shoe retailers i.e. Next, Sportsworld, JJB sports who cannot find matching pairs of shoes do not sell the shoes to the customer.

OP I hope you got the name of the manager to put on your letter. If you do I suggest you describe exactly what happened when you complained in the store i.e. the manager refusing to give you the address of the head office. (Incidentally most shops have the address of the head office near the till.)

I had a problem with an optical store a few years so I complained in writing to the head office. It then transpired that lots of customers had complained about the store and the fault was with the manager. The manager was sacked. - A friend of mine found this out from a gleeful staff member.
    I'm not cynical I'm realistic :p

Chargebacks usually have to be £100 or more
