It still doesn't sound as if HPI check is the same as VIC check. This is what I need to do:

I don't see any option for doing it on the cheap.0 -

Is this the same thing, being advertised on the tv recently text 83600 with the reg number and they check for you if the car is not stolen etc?Life is about give and take, if you can't give why should you take?0

Bump.
No answer to my question?
I did first post my question as a New Thread but it ws merged with this one. And it seems to be a different matter altogether! A VIC seems to be a very official thing an I am a bit worried as to why my car has to do this test. No answers? It still doesn't sound as if HPI check is the same as VIC check. This is what I need to do:

A vehicle needs a VIC if it's been a Cat C total loss. There may be other reasons for it needing one too. Why not ask the DVLA why it needs one? I assume you did not do an HPI check on it before you bought it?0

Bought from a dealer after , a part ex that had come in a few days earlier.
Car was all clear though as the dealer has checked it with Experian.0 -

I didn't really buy it, I took it over from my son's girlfriend and she wouldn't know about such matters, being Austrian, and neither do I!
I did the VIC check on Monday and it was OK.0 -
Having been in the motor trade for many years I would always reccomend getting a car check. Have you tried simply searching for free hpi?
even if you don't find one I would still reccomend paying for one as the risks can be high of not. Think about it,
If a car has outstanding finance it will be taken from you.
If a car is stolen, it will be taken from you.
If a car has incorrect mileage you will not be able to sell it or will loose a fortune if you do and the cost of maintaining it will be higher.
If a car has been written off you will not be able to sell it or will only be able to sell it for a fraction of the cost.
For the sake of a few quid it makes sence dont you think.0
