Disabled - who do you inform

If you have any disability or condition that MAY even possibly effect your driving, you must inform the DVLA. I think the insurance companies even require details if it has NO effect on your driving (incorrect information can lead to policy being void). The DVLA also issue the free tax so therefore if you do not inform them they will find out anyway, then may ask why you haven't told them and it is illegal to not let them know, so there could be consequences for this (£1000 fine I think it is for not notifying them)http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring/DriverLicensing/MedicalRulesForDrivers/DG_4022415
Should have all the information you need on how to inform them. If your disability effects you in such a severe way that you are entitled to higher rate mobility I think you will be definately classed as disabled or of course you wouldn't be entitled to the allowances etc and should inform your insurance if you have not done so already. This may help in the understanding of the being classed as disabled http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/DisabledPeople/RightsAndObligations/DisabilityRights/DG_4001069
It would be a good idea to speak to your GP who can of course back you up if DVLA question your driving ability due to your condition, this is some info on what happens after you notify them http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring/DriverLicensing/MedicalRulesForDrivers/DG_4022417
If you are still entitled to Income Support you shouldn't have to pay council tax unless there are others in the household who are in work etc.One day I might be more organised...........

Slinkies target 2018 - another 70lb off (half way to what the NHS says) so far 25lb0 -
Should have mentioned this.
1. I have applied for a Blue Badge and was told it will take up to 4 weeks. Was happy to receive it within a week.
2. Sent off for an exemptiton form for road tax. Still waiting for the document. It has been nearlly two weeks. How long does it take?
3. Have a car. Need to change to something with a higher seating.
Car tax exemption form can take 2 or 3 weeks - give them a ring if you haven't heard soon.
If you recieve hgihest rate mobility component, you can consider a Motability car, if you need to change vehicles.

You can tell a lot about a woman by her hands..........for instance, if they are placed around your throat, she's probably slightly upset.
