Disabled - who do you inform

Have been awarded DLA. Who do i inform about my new situation? I have done the following so far :-
1. To be on the safe side i have informed Income Support. They were already aware and have started paying me the disability premium.
2. Told the housing benefit who wanted to see the award letter and take a copy. They will not say if i have to start paying council tax. At present i am on income support so don't personally have to pay council tax.
Is there anyone i need to inform? The reason i ask is that someone had posted a question about his/her friend who is deaf and that they have not informed tax credit about his/her deafness/disability.
Was not aware that tax credit needed to be informed. I am only claiming child credit. Would they need to be informed that i am now getting DLA and disability premium? I had assumed these are not classed as income.
Thanks in advance

Hi it might be useful even if you dont have a car assuming you having difficulty walking long distances to apply for a blue badge as its for the applicant and not for the driver.0

You should be better off if you are getting DLA (as it carries disability premiums with it for other means tested benefits).
If you are getting the mobility component (highest rate) then that entitles you to a blue badge, and possibly exemption from car tax (if the car is only being used for you).

You can tell a lot about a woman by her hands..........for instance, if they are placed around your throat, she's probably slightly upset.

The reason you inform tax credits is that should you return to work and claim working tax credit, there is extra if you get DLA.The "Bloodlust" Clique - Morally equal to all. Member 10

Should have mentioned this.
1. I have applied for a Blue Badge and was told it will take up to 4 weeks. Was happy to receive it within a week.
2. Sent off for an exemptiton form for road tax. Still waiting for the document. It has been nearlly two weeks. How long does it take?
3. Have a car. Need to change to something with a higher seating.Problem with having access to internet is that i get asked by many to solve their problems

As someone on high mobility component and had my car adapted I had to inform the DVLA and my car licence was changed - this also affected car insurance.0

i am on high mobility. Have back problems and trouble walking. Don't know how to word this and hope it does not offend you but i have all my limbs/not paralised and therefore my car is not modified. I can drive as ''normal'' Do i have to inform DVLA and motor insurance company that i am receiveing DLA?
Does receiving DLA high mobility class you as disabled with reference to insurance etc? I had assummed that if you are paralised, missing a limb etc classes you as disabled in regards to insurance etc.
Forever confused

You only need to inform DVLA if it affects your driving, maybe speak to your doc and see what he/she recommendsI haven't got one!0

my hubby recieves dla mobility (lower rate) care(middle rate) has not been allowed to work since feb last year. If you get dla we did not pay any council tax and i think im right in saying that even if its just 1p income support you dont either. You really should ring the tax people about tax credits to even if your not working or your partner (im my husbands carer and i dont work) but with the disability it really is worth doing and because we didnt claim last year they gave us all that in a lump sum. I know with most benefits the forms seam endless but they did this over the phone. They will wont to know your estimated income for the year (DLA dont count) its like a tax free thing so your income support, incapacity etc down side you might have to pay council tax.:j0

I was also told to contact the DVLA and let them know I was receiving HR mobility, as there are such stringent rules on qualifying for it and you would only receive if your mobility was severely restricted. Also, when you get a quote for car insurance you are counted as being disabled.
