You absolutely sure about the warranty. AFAIK all new Ford cars (as do most manufacturers) come with a 3 year/60,000 mile warranty as standard. Have you tried contacting Ford customer services?

In cases like this, facebook and twitter can be your best friends. Maybe worth a try too? Sounds like shocking service to me!

Discuss all this direct with Ford. It is still under warranty.

Regarding the wet footwells, get the garage to poke/air blow the a/c drain tube underneath. That sometimes gets blocked causing the water extracted by the a/c to overflow into the car down the side of the central console.
  • Thanks for all your responses!

I've spoken to 3 dealerships and Ford direct and they all confirm it isn't under warranty. The dealer I bought it from said they would have done the work as a goodwill gesture but they haven't got anyone trained to do it!! Ford has offered a goodwill gesture but won't cover the complete cost of diagnostic and repair. I've decided to take it my local garage who have always been fab with previous cars. I'm disgusted with Ford, none of the garages I have been too will even look at it, they just keep sending me away. I will also be making an official complaint to Ford.

This is simply resolved (unless you do a high mileage), the KA comes with 3 years warranty.

Have you done over 60000 miles?

If not ask them Ford in writing your warranty has expired and take it from their reply.

The problem here is Ford's very poor warranty. Most new Fords only come with a 1 year base warranty and then 2 years of "Ford protect" which covers much less.
The base warranty covers just about everything, the second and third year doesn't cover leaks or many other things.

I had a Fiesta for a while and really liked it but the poor warranty (which I only discovered after I bought the car as the Ford website isn't clear) put me off Ford and I now drive a Suzuki which appears to have a proper 3 year cover period.

Aside from the above you do however still have your statuary rights. You could take the dealer to the small claims court on the grounds that the car is not fit for purpose or of a satisfactory quality.

I am very surprised to hear this

I was a ford owner for 23 years and had a few cars from new during that time, and all the late model cars from about 2000 on came with a 3 year warranty and i never had problems

the dealer used to contact me at 35 months and say get the car booked in for its first MOT and we can cover any repairs under the warranty

on a 2003 ford mondeo that had covered only 17,000 miles and was three and a half years old and out of warranty i had a front coil spring break and the car was recovered to ford, service department rang a day later to say the new spring would be £175.00 a corner and i asked them to replace both front springs and agreed to the cost of £350.00

two days later i get a call from the service department car ready for collection, I arrive at the garage and the service manager said good news, he asked ford for good will and they did both front springs free of charge as they should not have failed at 17.k and three and a half years old

so all my dealings with ford were good but i was always loyal to one dealer for purchase and service so they always looked after me well
  • Good news it's fixed!!! My local independent garage had a look for me and the drainage holes were blocked but they've been cleaned now and it seems to have worked!!

It's a shame that the first Ford garage it went to didn't bother to look under the bonnet, it would have saved 3 trips to the garage, numerous phone calls and a whole load of stress and inconvenience!! Absolutely disgusting service from Ford!!

Thank you for all your responses and help, your support has been very much appreciated!! X
