2 year old Ka, Central locking and water leaking problems and Ford won't help!!

Options
Hi

I have a 2 year old KA which has done 5000 miles. I've recently had problems with the central locking (won't always lock with key or key fob) and water in both of the front foot wells. I've been to local ford dealership and been sent away as they say it's out of warranty. I've phoned 2 other dealerships who weren't much more help and I've phoned Ford who won't resolve the issue. I don't know what to do next, reluctant to pay for the work as it's only 2 years old so shouldn't be having these problems!! Any help would be gratefully received!!

    New or second hand?

I've had it from brand new, tried the dealer I bought it from and they're not being very helpful.

Surely this would be covered by the warranty, especially from new?

Apparently what they call 'base' is only covered for the first year!! I just feel that it's unreasonable for this to go wrong on a 2year old car!!

Key fob/central locking is most likely battery related.

There are exclusions for wear and tear and neglect ie not servicing it often enough.

Are there pollen filters or drainage channels that could have become blocked? It's common cause of sodden footwells.

    And me...

Agreed, battery could be the key to the keyfob. No doubt the dealer will want £80 or something ridiculous to change one, so get on YouTube and find a tutorial for doing it yourself (can be done with a Poundland battery and a pen-knife in most cases).

The water isn't to do with your window washers or anything like that right? It's definitely condensation?

I've changed the battery, the central locking won't work even using the key manually in the door. It's servicing is all up to date, the last one was 2 weeks ago. Not sure about pollen filters etc, wouldn't know where to start, I'll have to ask my boyfriend to have a look. Thank you for your responses, I'm just very annoyed with the service provided by Ford!!

Exactly when did it start leaking?

I don't know, I took it to garage last week because of the central locking issues (2nd visit) and they told me about the problem, hadn't noticed myself. The footwells are damp and it's only underneath the mats. The garage has told me to fix the leak and then they'll look at the central locking!
