Good gamble - well played! TBH I'd have done the same. You've obviously stayed up very late celebrating :beer:shebanjoed wrote: »We all got here no questions asked at any point in journey.

Have I got this right?
She is taking her 12 year old son to the airport tonight hoping he will be allowed to travel.
If he's not allowed to travel, he's going to go home with his grandparents whilst his Mum and his brother go off to Thailand........
That is the reality of the situation. As the result proved, it was the right decision.
Had he been denied boarding, I'm sure that his grandparents would have given him a good time... there are definite benefits to being the only one and getting all the attention.0 -

Really pleased that it all worked out for you.0 -
Yes, we now know (thanks to the OP's update) that it was the right decision.Voyager2002 wrote: »That is the reality of the situation. As the result proved, it was the right decision.

Maybe he would have had a good time with his grandparents if he was not allowed to travel but no matter how good a time they gave him, I can't see it being anywhere near as interesting as his brother would have had in Thailand. :cool:0 -
Well, quite, which is presumably why they decided to do their best to get him there. And they succeeded. What would other people have done, made the entire family stay at home and lose a holiday?Yes, we now know (thanks to the OP's update) that it was the right decision.

I would have done the same as the OP.
My point to Voyager2002 (as he quoted my post #25 in his post #34) was that comparing a couple of weeks in Thailand, probably involving elephant riding etc can hardly be compared with spending the same time at home with Nana and Grandpa - no matter what the 'benefits to being the only one' are.0 -

I think it was fair, and yes it was a great result but if I had 2 kids there is no way I could go on holiday with one of them and then leave the other(a 12 year old) behind at the airport.
I dont think it was good parenting at all. It was a gamble with a 12 year olds welfare that ended well0 -

Either made sure that the passport was valid, which of course most people would have done, or yes I think I would have cancelled the whole trip or left both kids at home, I wouldnt have taken one and left the other0
