We pay £5 pcm for BT Essential, which apparently is for use of catch-up TV (BBC iPlayer etc), access to on demand content (we don’t use it) and the pause, rewind and record facility. The only

We are out of contract in May and we have a black BT Vision box (not a YouView).

We’re looking at getting a Smart Blu-Ray player which has access to BBC iPlayer and Netflix etc which would more than replace the catch-up and on demand. The only thing we’d miss would be pause, rewind and record.

I’ve read that the pause, rewind and record will work without the £5 BT Essential pack, but BT will tell you otherwise. Has anyone cancelled and their box still works?

The old silver BT Vision boxes and some of the early black ones will not work without a subscription.

If you have the new look BT Vision software on your box then the PVR functions will still work if you cancel your BT Vision subscription.

If your not on an unlimited broadband package and you cancel the BT Vision subscription the on demand content use will come out of your broadband usage.

The on demand will just include catch up tv such as BBC i player. All the BT Vision content including box office/music/kids will no longer be available.
